Using less function in FilterArray

Hi guys,

I was wondering if anyone can help me with understanding what the below statement does? I am taking data from sharepoint site and using this to check the modified date. Will it show all records where modified date is less than 7 days from todays date?

less(item()?['Modified'], addDays(utcNow(), -7))

I'm seeing all records from 26th Feb 2024 and also 1st Dec 2023 etc. after running this.

Thanks

Hi @RajSingh,

You're right, my bad, I'm tired, saying crap about or(). But you sent me your original expression with addDays(). Give me the adapted one so I can check what's going wrong.

No worries @SamLed  Thanks a lot for your help so far.

No worries @SamLed  - Please see below the updated FilterArray which is throwing an error.

@or(and(equals(item()?['Progress'], 'Follow up with Customer'),less(formatDateTime(item()['Modified'], 'yyyy-MM-dd'),outputs('Past_dates_array')[5])),

Hi @RajSingh,

I cleaned your expression, you left some extra less(...), should fix it:

@or(
	and(equals(item()?['Progress'], 'Follow up with Customer'),
		less(formatDateTime(item()?['Modified'], 'yyyy-MM-dd'), outputs('Past_dates_array')[5])),
	and(equals(item()?['Progress'], 'Refer to KYC'),
		less(formatDateTime(item()?['Modified'], 'yyyy-MM-dd'),outputs('Past_dates_array')[2])),
	and(equals(item()?['Progress'], 'Application form returned to BBCS'),
		less(formatDateTime(item()?['Modified'], 'yyyy-MM-dd'),outputs('Past_dates_array')[1])),

But it is a huge expression, will give hard time to debug if fails. If I were you I would split it into many smaller, use many filter and append results in an array variable to get all items together.

Hi @RajSingh,

You didn't build the flow like I showed you, "Past dates array" compose have to be outside "Apply to each", just after it. That's an advanced PA trick to create a array from a compose belonging an apply to each.

You won't be able to get reference of target compose from dynamic contents, you'll have to enter it manually from expression tab: outputs('Target_Date')

@SamLed - Thanks so much for all your help. I am able to save the flow and send an auto email successfully. I will check the report to make sure all filters are working as expected and get back to you. Thanks again for your time 👍

@RajSingh you're welcome, glad to hear it's working. Don't forget to accept answers that helped you solve it as solution, so other user can spot directly a solution if they have same issue 😉

Hi @SamLed - Sorry I'm back again. I was wondering if we can have another option of 12 hours in the past dates array. We currently have 1,2,3,4,5,7,14 values in the array. Is it that simple to have 0.5 as another value in the array and then changing the FilterArray query accordingly? Thanks

Hi @RajSingh,

Nope, to achieve what you need you'll have to use another function: addHours.

You could either use addHours(utcNow(), -12, 'yyyy-MM-ddThh:mm'), append it to array and use following expression in filter:

Less(formatDateTime(item()?['Modified'], 'yyyy-MM-ddThh:mm'), outputs('Past_dates_array')[7])

Or directly without appending to array:

 Less(formatDateTime(item()?['Modified'], 'yyyy-MM-ddThh:mm'), addHours(utcNow(), -12, 'yyyy-MM-ddThh:mm'))

You're a star! Thanks a lot for your help 👍

 Due to change in requirements, I was supposed to add working days SLA for some and calendar days SLA for others. I amended the FilterArray query to accommodate those changes but somehow it's giving an invalid expression error message.

Can you please help me to fix the error? Thanks

There was a missing comma and the issue is fixed 🙂
