Business rule to lock fields works in form but not in editable grid.

Hello. I created a business rule to lock fields when certain criteria is met. It works when in the form:

But not in the editable grid, those same fields are editable and can be changed and are not locked.

Is there a way to get it so it locks it on the editable grid as well? Thank you.

This isn't an answer to the question.  Business rules that lock fields do not work on the editable grid.  My condition is a column on the grid.

@chrispybites what's the scope of the Business Rule? It should be entity. All forms/Particular form won't work in this case.

Hi @Mgodby / @chrispybites ,

If your locking condition is dependent on another column, try adding into the editable grid and check if it locks the main field? [Referring to @v-bofeng-msft 's comment].

Now, if the above doesn't work, this is a limitation that Business Rules only work in context of your Form and Editable Grid doesn't activate the Business Rule.

To resolve this, there are 2 options

1. You can create 2 views where Read-Only View contains all the columns and Editable-Grid for only selective columns to change.

2. If you really want to keep 1 view, try Read-Only and then OnSelect of the records, trigger a JavaScript to open a mini-Form/Main-Form as side panel and edit the changes on the fly and close the Form. This way your records in main page View will remain as it is.

The scope of the business rule is on the entity itself, which should cover any form.  And I wouldn't be commenting on this thread if the column that plays in the condition wasn't in the grid.  To be clear, this is in reference to the Power Apps Grid Control.

I'd like to try and accomplish this without customizing the app with code, but if that's the only way to lock a field based on a condition, then I'd call that a problem Microsoft needs to fix.

I think I am experiencing this issue as well. Very simple business rule to lock a field is not being applied to the Editable grid (yes, all the fields are on the grid).

Interestingly, while business rules to lock fields are not applied in editable grid views, they are indeed applied in editable grid subgrids in the context of a form.
