Create a filter for a view column based on the curent user

Hello,

I have a custom dataverse table (POs) and I want to create a view for this table.

The view will display the records with

a) status = 'Sign' and

b) 'Running Task' equals the current user.

'Running Task' is a text column in POs table that contains user first/last name (eg. 'John Doe').

I haven't found a way to accomplish the (b) in dataverse view.

First of all there is no such option for the filter I create.

I don't know if it accepts functions like User().FullName but I doubt.

So, I thought maybe I can use the 'Add Related table' option in filters for 'Microsoft Entry ID' table that has the information I want.

I added a new relationship like that

But it seems there is no way to use it in filters since the only option I have for 'Related table' is 'Contains/Not Contains Records'.

Is there any way to achieve that from Dataverse so as not to have to create filtering in my Canvas app?

Is Running Task is a Look Up?

If it is not a Look Up Create it as a Lookup (Related to User Table) and you can use the Equals Current User filter.

Hi rampprakash,

I actually added a new column inside the table as lookup column for "Microsoft Entra ID".

When I added data in the table, I get the user names in lookup correctly.

But when I go to the view to add the filter and press the down arrow, oops!!! I have the error you see 

I'll try again tomorrow and if I have the same error, I'll handle it from the canvas app.

Unless you or someone else knows something about this error.

Hi @skatzis 

The lookup column should be for User (systemuser) table of Dataverse, not Microsoft Entra ID. Then it would allow you to use current user filter.

In Dataverse we would usually filter either on the Owner of the record or another Lookup on the record to the User(systemuser) table - both these types of fields give you a filter of Current User). 

Unfortunately, the limitation is still the same as per https://powerusers.microsoft.com/t5/Microsoft-Dataverse/Model-Driven-app-filter-view-AAD-User/td-p/2...
