How is custom column data from Project for the Web stored in the Dataverse?

Hi All,

I am currently trying to extract data from Project for the Web from the Dataverse and am struggling to find where the data for custom columns from project plans are stored. Is there any sort of database schema available for the Dataverse,  or does anyone know where this data is stored.

Many thanks in advance.

Hi @jkhan ,

Could you please share some screenshot to know what you are referring to?

Hi @jkhan ,

The data for the Project for the Web is stored in the Default Dataverse instance.  Please see the following article for details:  https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/project-for-the-web/handling-data-for-project-for-the-web-and-roadm...

You should be able to look at the tables in that instance using the make.powerapps.com and navigating the Default instance.  From a schema navigation perspective, I would start with the Common Data Model and there is a way to navigate and view the entities as well (https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/common-data-model/

Hope this helps. Please accept if answers your question or Like if helps in any way.
Thanks,
Drew

I have also the same issue. Let me explain.

If I customize the table in the dataverse, I can find all my custom columns in the msdyn_projecttask table, however those columns are not available in the Project for the Web views (Grid, Board, Timeline...).

From the Grid view, I can create new custom columns:

pftw1.pngpftw2.png

and enter values,

pftw3.png

but the column cannot be found in the msdyn_projecttask table where the rest of the task data is stored.

Does anyone knows where this data is stored and how to use it outside the Project for the Web view, like in a Power BI report?

Hi @ctedesco3307 and @ReneAlvarezM

Custom columns added to Project on the Web do not show up in Dataverse.  See the following post discussing the same.  https://techcommunity.microsoft.com/t5/project/ms-project-custom-fields-on-dataverse/m-p/3865596

Hope this helps. Please accept if answers your question or Like if helps in any way.

Major  bummer .... but bad news is still news .... Thank you!

Can I go the other way? I added calculated column for week number of the project (date diff from task finish back to project start). I can see the new column in the Project powerapps table and when I click to "update forms and views" it suggests that the new column will push to the projects, but I don't see it there.

Hi @Chris_at_3Seven ,

That is to add to forms and views in Dataverse, not Project for the Web.

Hope this helps. Please accept if answers your question or Like if helps in any way.

Hi Drew,

Is it the same thing for labels? I can find the labels table but no link between the tasks and labels. Alternatively I am trying to automate the excel file exportation via power querys but can't find a link.
