Importing Records Using CSV File Creates Duplicate Records in Power Apps Table

Hope you are doing well !

I am facing an issue while importing data using csv files into an existing table in power apps which results duplicate record creation rather than updating existing record in same table . Also, 'Name' is a Primary Column for this table and Id Column is not available for me while creating mapping for other column attributes in Import wizard for uniqueness and that further leads to duplicate record creation in this Table . 

Apart from this , I have tried to create a new Key (Name) for uniqueness of record but that also throws an SQL error at my end .  Kindly ,  advise resolution for this duplicate records issue and let me know if you need further details from my end .

Hi @Maverick003 

The first thing you should see is the issue of the type of Excel file that you are using, a blank template or an Excel file with data.

When we use an Excel template, the template is normally blank and when we perform an import it will create all the records because it is not detecting the GUID of the record, which is truly the unique identifier of the element.

Now, if you are talking about updating data, it is recommended that you say export to excel in the table menu and that way you will have all the records associated with that table and when you make a change in one of the records, the import process will verify. the GUID and you will see that it exists and it does not create a new record but updates it.

When you open the excel you will notice that it starts in column D, but the first three correspond to the record data that you cannot modify

Thanks for your response!

I have tried same way by mapping record Id column to primary key in import wizard but still it's not working and creating new record in table rather than updating existing one.

Also, I have found that this Table have 'Name' Column is defined a Primary Column (ID should be Primary column) and might be a reason for creating new record during bulk update. Kindly, advise for other inputs.

If you do not have to modify it, when you download the file in excel in this field you cannot modify it, you must keep it until it is downloaded, you can leave the rest of the fields if you can modify it.
