Relationship with the same name column

Hi guys,

I read somewhere that when we create a column, then if we put a relationship to another table, lets say one to many, that column will appeared in that related table and then it will auto populated when we added a record in this related table ?

The column did appeared in my table, but I wonder how to make it auto populated, cause mine is still blank.

Any help?

but need to delete the existing relationship first. because cannot add another relationship if the column we want already have a relation.

So the one that I make it works is by no relation at first for my "intended" column. Then create new column to my related table (same name but I think it will works if it is different as well)

Then follow those steps in Microsoft docs to add new relationship. Honestly, I think it is quite confusing and a bit disappointment of this needs to Switch to Classic because it seems everything is better (and works) in Classic.

Based on the issue that you mentioned, do you want to populate data based on the relationship?

Could you please share a bit more about the scenario?

Actually, with the dataverse you will actually need to add a column to your related table that is a LookUp type to the currently selected table.

This lookup field definition will allow you to choose the table to connect with (i.e. Teachers). At this point the dataverse will create the 1:N relationship for you from the Teachers to the Class table and will define it as a "referential" relationship by default.

If you create an app automatically from a table that contains a lookup column, it appears as a Drop down control that contains data from the Primary name column of the table.

Hi @v-qiaqi-msft ,

Yes, I want to auto populate it, but seem if we only set relationship from "not" the Classic view, it won't fill in automatic, it will just have lookup as you mentioned.

What I want is if my 1st table filled in by "xyz" then in its related table, the column that I've set relationship will be automatic fill in by "xyz" as well.

Will that possible without the steps I mentioned but with setup in Classic View ?
