Workflow doesnt trigger on custom date field.

Hi,

Dataverse workflow doesn't trigger on custom date field when set to trigger for a certain date on a custom table.

Hi @Teresa24486,

For your recurring workflow, "Timeout until" a date is the correct condition. I think the issue you're having is the testing part of it with date-only fields.

Here's an example of a workflow that waits until a specific date and then sends an email when that date is reached. In my case I hard-coded the date for testing, but you can map it to your custom field.

 

Workflow:

Make sure the scope if Organization and that it's triggered when the record is created. If it doesn't trigger then it will never run 🙂

Based on the issue that you mentioned, do you want to run the workflow based on a certain date for an entity?

Could you please share a bit more about the scenario?

Workflow is trigger on top of particular event of Entity.So you can not automate based on time and run the work flow.

Now it depends on your requirement, what kind of operation you will do?

If it's really bulk data operation then I would suggest go for using console application and scheduled solution in windows task scheduler. By using this you can get advantages of your custom file based log or event viewer log.

Kindly open the respective workflow and check process session look out for any issue.

 

if there are any issue in workflow steps, deactivate the workflow, update the step and activate.

Process session Status Reason shows Canceled or Waiting. Doesnt Trigger. Conditions were pretty straightforward:

Wait until Process-Execution Time equals 3 days before [custom field] --> Send Email -->Stop workflow with status of Succeeded.

Can you please open the process session, since you have used wait until look out for postpone until value. If it is not as per the condition, Kindly change wait until condition.

 

Please refer below screenshot.

If not it will keep stay on waiting state until the postpone until date.

while creating record, is that custom date will set to 7 days after process execution?

 

Because process execution time is the workflow trigger time on creation of record.

oh is it? thought process execution time is the time the workflow will trigger 7 days before the custom date set on the column.

In that case what wait condition should i use?

Summer of Solutions | Week 4 Results | Winners will be posted on July 24th

We are excited to announce the Summer of Solutions Challenge!   This challenge is kicking off on Monday, June 17th and will run for (4) weeks.  The challenge is open to all Power Platform (Power Apps, Power Automate, Copilot Studio & Power Pages) community members. We invite you to participate in a quest to provide solutions in the Forums to as many questions as you can. Answers can be provided in all the communities.    Entry Period: This Challenge will consist of four weekly Entry Periods as follows (each an “Entry Period”)   - 12:00 a.m. PT on June 17, 2024 – 11:59 p.m. PT on June 23, 2024 - 12:00 a.m. PT on June 24, 2024 – 11:59 p.m. PT on June 30, 2024 - 12:00 a.m. PT on July 1, 2024 – 11:59 p.m. PT on July 7, 2024 - 12:00 a.m. PT on July 8, 2024 – 11:59 p.m. PT on July 14, 2024   Entries will be eligible for the Entry Period in which they are received and will not carryover to subsequent weekly entry periods.  You must enter into each weekly Entry Period separately.   How to Enter: We invite you to participate in a quest to provide "Accepted Solutions" to as many questions as you can. Answers can be provided in all the communities.
