Please Help! RIP admin, can we still make his app work?

Hi all,

our dear head of department, Jon Sheppard, died just after Christmas. He had developed a wonderful revision app on PowerApps for our students to use, and we still have access to the data we all submitted to build the question bank, in Sharepoint. We can still access the app (Bartholomew Science Quiz) through the App store, and the students can still access the questions. I have tested it last night and saw that I can still add questions to the Sharepoint list, if I give them a unique question ID number they still register on the teacher-app that he built, but I cannot see the question in the student app, so it seems that we cannot really add or develop the question database. Has anyone any advice on how we can make the sync correctly, and is there a way to act as admin without actually being the app developer. None of us knows how he built the app, we just know how to input the questions. I have saved the questions into an Excel Workbook so that in future if the app stops working for some reason we still have all of the questions, but I do not know how long we have left until the amount of data the app created makes itself crash. It was very intuitive, the kids could select from up to 25 modules and were rewarded with merits/success points if they got loads correct or persisted even if they didn't know as many questions to start with, but all the data the users generated must be filling up some database we do not have access to, as none of us knew his passwords.

Are the Jon Sheppard's account in same Organization as yours?

Does the Jon Sheppard share a Co-Owner permission of his PowerApps app to you?

If the Jon Sheppard's account is in same Organization as yours, you could consider ask the Global Admin to reset the password for his account, then set a new password for it. After that, you could use his account and new password to sign in his PowerApps, then modify the app he created before.

For the data sources the app relies on, if you do not have access to the data source, I afraid that you could not see the data within the data source.

As an alternative solution, you could consider set up a new data source on your side, then create a new connection to the data source you created from the app, and use data source you created as new data source within the app instead of the original data source.
