Display only Month/Year in Power Apps Portal

Hi Experts,

I have a requirement where I need to display Month/Year in an entity form instead of date format(M/d/yyyy). I tried using bootstrap datepicker. But it also displays in the same format. Could anyone please help me out?

From my view, there is no out-of-box function to format the date on a single form.

What we can do, as @OliverRodrigues mentioned, is change it on the entire portal.

Thank you for the reply. I have used the date format in one more entity form where I display the date format as M/d/yyyy. I do not want to change the format for the entire Portal since I require the M/yyyy format only in one of the entity forms.

Was there a solution to this.  I have the same need.  The only thing I can think of is  constructing two different fields with a drop down for month and text field for year.  Then reconstruct a date format as a calculated field.  This type of field is a common one for various card expiry.  In my case a medical card.

Hi @RMW,

Datetime field on Power Apps Portal is displayed via Bootstrap 3 Datepicker V4 control. I am going into more detail on how to work with it in my article - https://www.dancingwithcrm.com/date-fields-on-powerappsportals/. You can use the format function that accepts moment js supported format to show/parse the date to change format on specific field. The code would look something like this:

$('#YOUR_FIELD_ID').next().data("DateTimePicker").format('MM/YYYY');

And result will look like this:

Keep in mind that this will affect only the visualization - a user will still need to pick a specific date not a month.

The format view works great.  I see that the documentation allows for the year then date to be picked and seems to be using viewMode function to do this.  Any idea how to incorporate this into your suggestion above.  Trying a few things but none seem to be working.  Appreciate any ideas you might have.

I checked and you are correct - viewMode should allow to pick only year and month according to docs. I tried couple of things but it didn't work. My guess this is because of the portal configuration that need to have a date not only month and year. As a possible workaround if you have possibility you can find/build custom component for the portal (https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/powerapps/maker/portals/component-framework) as date field is supported their.
