Entity list tooltips

Hello!

Recently i added a custom jquery plugin for tooltips, modal etc. called jBox to my portal. the main use for it would be having custom tooltips that look decent. For it to work properly i had to remove the existent tooltip css in the portal css files, but that broke the search field in my entity lists - it looks like this now:

bad tooltip.png

It would be nice to make it use the plugin i imported, the plugin searches for all elements with the class "tooltip" and then does its own magic taking the element property "title" as the text of the tooltip. However if i cant use the plugin to fix it, then it would be fine to just delete the tooltip for these search boxes as well, and make the input and search button aligned, the only thing is i don't know where i can access the code for this, so i can fix it or delete it.

Hi @KD203.

First of all I would not make changes to the portal css files at any point. These files are subject to change that might overwrite your changes - and the possibility of breaking the portal is high. Instead I would create a new css file with my changes that will overwrite the portal css styling. If you are not sure how to implement new styles with your own CSS that is documented here: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/powerapps/maker/portals/edit-css

Now to the subject of tooltip. Bootstrap has built in support for tooltip that you can use out of the box. If there is special requirements for look and feel from customer or designers the default tooltip behaviour and design might be altered as you choose.

This section in the Boostrap documentation (v.3.3x) will describe the tooltip you get with bootstrap, how to use it and how it can be adjusted to meet your requirements: https://getbootstrap.com/docs/3.3/javascript/#tooltips

In sum: I would revert changes to portal css, remove the library you added on top and instead wotk with the default tooltip to meet your requirements. When working with any framework it is best practice to use the default components as far as possible; both for consistent user experience and performance perspective.

If you have any further questions please let me know, and if you find this information resolves your problem please set as resolved.
