How do I differentiate the origin in DataSet component?

DataSet component can be added on Form as a sub-grid or on Entity as a main-grid.

How do I know whether the DataSet component is used as sub-grid or main-grid?

In addition, if it is used as a sub-grid, how do I get the primary record Id in PCF? As a workaround, I am creating a different view, which contains a lookup column to the parent entity, for PCF DataSet component.

The context object has the following:

•  context.mode.contextInfo.entityId
•  context.mode.contextInfo.entityTypeName

The first provides the record GUID and the second tells you what entity type you are dealing with. 

The main grid controls will have a null entityId as there is no logical parent.

Just a work of caution. These properties are not yet exposed in the preview manifest and are under discussion.  

I would like to learn about the usecase when the control needs to know whether this is subgrid vs main grid.

@HemantG Main grid and sub-grid could have different actions or displayed differently, for example highlighting the parent entity in the network diagram.

Additionally, sub-grid and main grid could be slightly different, I guess. As a sub-grid, we can probably create a bound property and pass attributes' values from parent entity. In the main grid, bound property may not work. I have yet to test the behavior. 

For now, contextinfo.entityId will work, but I will keep in mind it is not exposed yet.

@TanguyT As you find, context.mode.contextInfo is not officially available in Mode interface yet. But, I can see contextInfo in JS debugger. So in TypeScript, (context.mode as any).contextInfo.entityId would work.

I am sorry if it is a mis-understanding. I am accepting this as an un-supported approach in this preview.

@TanguyTthis is unsupported, which was a fair comment from my frined Hemant - @cakhaing shows how you would define the property in Typescript to use as a workaround for now. The TypeScript definition files only share out what is in the supported API, but it is worth noting that the actual context object that can be seen in the browser is richer. I think making the good business case for this to be supported is the way to play it - here the need seems to be valid for many cases.

There is a bug in the context.mode.contextInfo object, for a NN subgrid.

The entityTypeName property contains the name of the related entity instead of the parent entity
