Power Automate Fundamentals # 16: Usage of Div Function in Power Automate
Introduction:
In Power Automate, at times we need to perform division arithmetic operations so that we can get easily desired result. As an example, let us see how to calculate price of a candy for quick reference from a bundle cost with the use of div function.
Step 1:
Login to the required Power Apps environment using URL make.powerapps.com by providing username and password and click on Flows on the left-hand side as shown in the below figure.
Step 2:
After Step 1, Click on New Flow and select instant cloud flow and provide the trigger as Manually trigger a flow and click on Create as shown in the below figure.
Step 3:
After Step 2, Add a parallel branch and in one part name flow as Division Function and take initialize variable action and provide step name it as Total Candies and then provide the inputs as in one side
Name : Candies
Type : Integer
Value : 12
as shown in the below figure.
Step 4:
After Step 3, in other side of parallel branch take initialize variable action and provide step name it as Total Cost of Candies and then provide the inputs as in one side
Name : Total Cost
Type : Float
Value : 1200
as shown in the below figure.
Step 5:
After Step 4, now take compose action and name it as Price of Each Candy and provide the following inputs as below with div function and it expects the following syntax
div(dividend: number, divisor: number)
and provide
div(variables('Total Cost'),variables('Candies'))
and click on update/ok as shown in the below figure.
Step 6:
After Step 5, now test and run flow and observe final result
as shown in the below figure.
Note:
Conclusion: In this way we can easily perform arithmetic operations like Division in Power Automate flow.
