Cant extract webpage data from a UI element

Im trying to extract text from an element that is only visible on a webpage when hovered over. I have tried a couple of things but I cant seem to get it.

Below is the element inspected.

This actually sounds like it's your Message box is bugged. Try logging the value to a text file or something like that instead. Use a Write text to file action to create a text file somewhere to test the outputs of Parse text. It might be that your flow actually works fine and it's just the message box that makes it break.

Have you tried using the Get details of web page action and then pulling the entire web page source? The sort of elements that appear when hovered are not actually loaded when you hover over them. The value is usually loaded when the page loads. So, the source should contain it. You can then use the Parse text action with regular expressions enabled to retrieve the actual value.

If you can show a snippet of the page source around the part where the value is, I can come up with a sample RegEx that you can use to retrieve it. Alternatively, you can also read a bit about regular expressions that work in PAD here: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/dotnet/standard/base-types/regular-expression-language-quick-refer... and then use the following tester to test it until you get it to work for your use case: http://regexstorm.net/tester

I'd suggest you familiarize yourself with RegEx, as it is one of the most powerful tools you can use in your RPA flows.

Can you copy and paste the HTML code instead of doing a screenshot?

Also, is the text itself always the same and it's just the percentage that differs, or can the text also be different?

The text will be the same but the Percent value will change regularly,

You can use the following regular expression to get the text and the percentage:

Scrap currently being crushed \(\d+.\)

Use it in a Parse text action, but make sure you enable the "Is regular expression" toggle.

This will return your text in the %Match% variable.

It did not seem to work, I tried checking with a Display message set to output the "Match" variable and it just continued running with no popup. This is what I have the Parse text set to

If it ran without a pop-up, it either failed somewhere, or did not access the actions due to the switch condition not being satisfied. Try doing it without the switch enabled.

I did not seem to work with the switch disabled either, I keep getting an error on viewing what the variable has stored from the web page source now.

Might be a bug in your instance of PAD. Maybe try to contact support. Also, try looking at the Application logs on the Windows Event Viewer if you can see any errors there that corresponds to the error that PAD throws. That might help debugging the issue.

Anyway, with the switch disabled, does the pop-up appear?

No , no popup appears at all, instead of the popup i have changed it to write the collected text into a text document, and double checked if the "Crushing..." was in it but it does not appear in the collected source page. Its in the elements tab of the inspected page.

Does the flow itself fail? Do you pause it to view the contents of the variable? It cannot skip the Message box action, if there is no condition telling it to skip it, or an error preventing the action from running. Even if the value is empty, the message box should still appear.

Can you share a screenshot of the full flow with the Switch disabled?

The flow itself did not fail, I had to stop it in order to attempt to view the contents of the variable. The Message box does not open it simply keeps running the program on the Message box action and does nothing for minutes on end.
