Create folders based on excel rows and then go webpage to download to last created folder

Hi
I am trying to make a PAD flow but I am stocked...
Based on an excel sheet that can contain 1 to infinite columns with information, but always only 4 rows.
I want to create A folder based on the first rows with the name the cell value has, then I want to create a subfolder based on row two values with the name of the cell, then last a subfolder to the second created folder with the name based on the third rows value. Lastly row 4 will contain a link and it should go to website and download.

Anyone that can help me out? I have tried several things but I seem to fail every time.

Hi @Thomas_R_H

You can do it.

Well I don't have the section where bot need to go to link to download the data, but in the flow i have shown how to do it.

This is the flow

Nived_Nambiar_0-1678726595348.png

Nived_Nambiar_1-1678726605792.png

the excel file used for this process

Nived_Nambiar_2-1678726658995.png

link1 , link2 are link to which bot naviagates to as part of the process

From folder perspective , bot will add the folder in the following way

Nived_Nambiar_3-1678726848126.png

Logic of how i did it

1. Read the excel file

2. Loop through each row of excel file

a1. set a variable index with value 0

a2. Set a variable folder_path with value of main folder where you need to add the main folder [ folder in first column, in this example, PA]

3. Loop through each column values in that row

Checks whether the column value you are looping is the last one or not [ since it has link], if not follow the below steps

    a. while looping through each row, will create the folder using folder_path as folder path and %col% as folder name.

 b. next assign folder_path with value folder_path+%col%

If the col value is last, then add the sequence to navigate to the webpage. [ I have added it as comment in flow]

then increment index with value 1

This is the complete logic how to acheive this step. Let me know if you have any questions.

Thanks & Regards,

Nived N

Hi @Thomas_R_H

Just to be clear, you need a flow which will folders and subfolders respectively.

Main folders should be created with first row, where each main folder has name equal to each column value in first row

second level subfolder should be created using second row, where subfolder should be created based on column, for example, for first row, in third column we have cell value A, so main folder should have as folder name. Now for 2 nd row in third column, we have cell value B, which means the folder B should be created under A ?

Am i right ?

Could you please confirm?

Thanks & Regards,

Nived N

Hi @Nived_Nambiar
sorry for not being clear.

Thomas_R_H_0-1678720740381.png

So in the excel sheet:
OA has to be the first folder (1), column B(2) Row 1 has to be a folder (subfolder) inside OA, and column C row 1, has to be a folder inside the folder B(2) and Column D row 1 should just be go to webpage through link in cell.
same with SA.
The data can also be transposed, so instead of Horizontal it can be vertical.
Please let me know if you need more information.

Hi @Nived_Nambiar

Thanks a lot! It worked and I will accept the solution.
Another thing, will the main folder get overwritten if there comes other instance of let say OA?
If yes, should I/ could I just make a "if folder exist" statement and then do nothing? would the the rest of the subfolders still be created in OA ?

Br

I think it won't get overwritten. I have just tried but it preserved the folders present inside the main folder

Thanks again for the answer.

Seems like I cant navigate to URL. Tried with Row and col, which should it be? because otherwise ill just keep it without link. Managed to go through each link in another workflow

Br

Hi @Thomas_R_H

It should be col

Hi @Nived_Nambiar

I tried a couple more time and it worked. Weird that it didn't work the first time I tried col.
Thanks a lot have a nice day 🙂
