Downloading Files from a table in a website

Hello All,

I am using Power Automate Desktop to log into a secure site navigate to a client's profile and then download all the files associated with that client to a client folder. My issue is the actual downloading step. There is a table with links that open to a new tab with the file information. I want to directly download these files.

I have tried:

1. Download from web

    Error: It can't find the file URLs in the table, so it downloads the session Id as the only file.

2.Click Download link on webpage

   Error:  Microsoft Edge can't be used for this action use Internet Explorer or automation browser. I tried to use IE mode in             Microsoft Edge but it didn't work. Neither did Firefox. 

3. Click link on webpage.

    Error: It cannot find the links to select.

4. Writing a Python script to get URLs

    Error: Python can't log in to get the URLs with the same semeion as my initial log in on Power Automate Desktop.

What I would like some help with:

1. Figuring out how to gather every URL in the table then move on to the next table of documents I did this using extract data from web page and paging.

2. Help with understanding what the "automation browser is" other than Internet Explorer and the Extension

3. Any ideas on how to go forward with this.

UPDATE: I can open all URLs after extracting data from webpage. However, unless I manually press the download button of the file in a new tab it downloads the login text from the secured client page.

Are you attaching to the new tab via Launch new {browser} action, so that you can interact with it appropriately using the browser actions?

The Automation browser is a native browser to PAD. It's based on IE and is pretty basic, quite limited. Most pages don't work too great on it. But it works with older pages and does not require any extensions.

I have been trying to download without opening the link itself. Do you think it would be better for me to try and open each link and select download? 

Would you be able to direct me on where to download the automation browser?

It depends. If you can use the Download from web action using those links to download the file directly, that's the best way to do it. If that doesn't work because of authentication issues, you probably need to open the link and then download the file via the UI.

The automation browser is an integrated part of PAD. It comes with the PAD package. You don't need to download and install it separately. You can only launch it via the Launch new Internet Explorer action by selecting it to Launch automation browser:

Alright, I can open the correct link and select download but I receive the error: Failed to get window. Does that mean I need to import or open the link in Power Automate in a different manner then automating the click on it?

What action are you using that throws this error? If you're using UI actions (such as Click a UI element in window or Press button in window), it won't work with the automation browser. You'll need to do that in IE or a similar external browser.

I am doing in in Microsoft Edge but it is in a new opened tab so maybe I need to make sure the website name is correct.

If it is a new tab, you will need to attach to it when it opens. Use Launch new Microsoft Edge action, but make it attach to an existing tab, instead of launching a new instance.

No, for now I navigate my mouse to the download button and then send a click to download.

Have you tried attaching to the new tab via Launch new Microsoft Edge action?

Yes, I extract data from the web page and open the urls in new tabs then I receive the same error where is downloads the log in page instead of the file. Only when I manually press the download button does the actual file download.
