Drop down opens a table with hyperlinks. Unable to select the hyperlink from the dropdown

Hi,

I need to login to a website and download a report.  I am using Power automate desktop to record the actions and I have a field in the report which is a drop down. When trying to record, it's highlighting on the arrow button with red lines around it.

and when I click on it, it will open a section with hyperlinks to select the months like this

But I am unable to select the months in the recording. It is showing red lines around the whole table and not on each hyper link.

How can I record when I select the month I want ?

Are you able to provide the webpage by any chance so I could take a look?

If not, no worries, try the following:

Use the "Extract data from webpage" action, see if you can extract anything via right click, if you can only extract the entire table then in the advanced options (should be at the bottom left corner of the extractor) play around with the CSS selector, e.g. try adding " > div " at the end of it, or  "> td" and see if anything changes / gets highlighted in the table.

If it doesn't work, do me a solid and do the following:

Press F12 on the webpage you're on, a menu will popup on the right, select this icon on the top left of this new menu:

now try and see if you can select the hyperlink, if you can, great, select it and it should boot you in the menu towards its code, right click the highlighted code - > copy -> copy full XPATH and post it here. 

Otherwise if you can't select any of the hyperlinks and only the table then we're stuck and will need to get creative.

Thanks for your reply. I followed your steps but can't get to select any of the hyperlinks, only the table is highlighting with < iframe.

How do I get to select the hyperlinks?

Which method did you use ^^?

If both failed, try the 2nd one again (the F12 one), but this time, select the table and see if its code has an "arrow" next to it that allows you to expand the dropdown further which you can click around inside of and it should select something in the table. If that also doesn't look like its selecting anything, I think your best bet would be to use a different method, maybe via hotkeys instead.

I tried both the options and F12 option again. But it's not allowing me to select the hyperlink in the table.

You mentioned about hotkeys. How to use that?

See if you could press tab a bunch of times to select one of the hyperlinks and keep pressing tab to get the rest, you could also CTRL+F, write the name of the hyperlink, press escape, and press enter, that should open it.

You could re-create this sequence of actions in PAD by using the "Send Keys" action.

When i have a page that i am unable to spy on elements for any reason (like they are so dynamic that you can't get any pattern), i grab source code of the page (you have a action for that) and then I parse the source code with regex to locate the link i'm interested in.

or use javascript function to trigger the function being used when you click the link on those dates, I bet there is a pattern you can follow to write the right, dynamic JS code for changing months
