Excel - Launch ' Make Instance Invisible"

The process starts by opening an Excel file however, a problem occurs when I try to make the entire process invisible.  I would prefer not to see each cell being filled in Excel or each Excel open on my screen. When I deselect the "make the instance visible" option within the "launch Excel" action, the Excel file appears to be completed within in the flow.  If I attempt to open the resulting Excel file, the sheet is hidden and the Excel is not open anywhere, but it shows it's open or sometime if it allows me to open it, I got a totally black screen.  So, the flow force me to keep the Excel Launch as 'Visible' that way I can open the result file. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Since its not closing the excel file properly. I am recommending the below solution.

After save excel action then place the close excel action and execute the below terminate set of actions then call the VB Scripts.

Have you tried with different excel file and all excel having same issues?

In the meantime, Try to terminate the excel before launch the excel file and after saving the excel file and see whether that resolves your issue. Please refer the below approach:

Unable to replicate the issue, but you might want to consider adopting this approach once:

Instead of saving your Excel file during the excel closure, utilize the "Save Excel" action to save your excel(screenshot attached) and close your excel file(dont save excel in this step).

@Deenuji

Thank you for all your suggestions.  However I conclude the problem is an Excel.  The PAD won't let me view the result file through excel.  I make one of the file save as .csv and I was able to open and see the result data as .csv format.  But I have tried both the excel extension and it won't let me view the result data in Excel.

Let me know if you have anymore idea.  It looks like there's a bug between PAD and Excel.  I may spot some other folks have the same situation in the forum.

Could you kindly verify the functionality by running the same flow on a different virtual machine? Confirm if the excel changes looks good on the new system. If it does, the issue may lie with the on-premises Excel software in your previous system.

Alternatively, if you encounter a similar problem on another machine, consider adjusting your PAD by upgrading and downgrading to assess whether these modifications resolve the issue.

Yea, this is dead in the water.  I install the PAD on my second machine and try to run the same flow and I don't have permission to login to the mailbox in the server for me to grab the email attachment file.  And IT won't give another permission for my second PC which is a different profile.  It stops me when I try to connect to the exchange server.

@TTC

First copy all the code from PAD using ctrl+A and paste into text file and follow the gif.

The problem it stops me from login into the server from the other machine.

I also tried to save the result of the Excel file on my local drive and I got the same result.  Blank excel file.  I am sure you or someone might have a different idea or workaround through PAD.

@Deenuji and Everyone Else

I see the problem and I don't know how to make it work on PAD.  You remember on my previous post when I said my result excel file is blank. For some weird reason the data is hidden after the flow is completed.  The first screenshot shows the data is hidden then the second screenshot show when I manually click on 'Unhide' now you able to see the data.  Is there a way I can unhide the data from PAD?  I am looking for a solution to this issue from everyone else.  Please I need help on this.

  1. Use the Set variable action to create a new variable containing the file path of the respective Excel file. In this example, the variable is named ExcelFile.

    Deenuji_5-1714136663820.png

  2. Deploy the Run VBScript action and populate the following code.

VBScript

'Opens the Excel file'
Set objExcel = CreateObject("Excel.Application")
Set objWorkbook = objExcel.Workbooks.Open("%ExcelFile%")
objExcel.Application.Visible = True

'Unhides all the worksheets of the Excel file'
For i=1 To objWorkbook.Sheets.Count
objWorkbook.Sheets(i).Visible = True
Next

'Saves and closes the Excel file'
objWorkbook.Save
objWorkbook.Close SaveChanges = True

That's very funny.  I found this one the website I am using now, but the script is still breaking out with the following error.  It seems like because the file is still open it thinks there's 2 files with the same name.  After it reads line#105 and then the script is stop. Is there a way I can override it on the script so it can continue on the next action?

Hello all,

I am still having issue no matter what I do. If I make the Excel Launch Invisible, then excel result file is hidden.  I have to go to excel and then view and Unhide and then save it.  It's a common issue to Power Automate Desktop?  I ran a VBScript and I also terminate the excel and find no solution.  It only work if I put the excel launch visible.  Is there anyone can help me with this?
