Populating A UI Element with Excel Rows

Hi All

I've been trying to develop this flow that creates a workbook and pastes in cell A1 any order number that the user has stored in the clipboard, then, PAD takes each cell and pastes it on a UI element in a website, which is a table.

I currently have an issue with the loops, since I'm trying to make this as less hard coded as possible, I need to make a loop that iterates through each order in the excel workbook and populates each UI element in the website. (Excel 1,1 goes to UI 1,1 ; Excel 2,1 goes to UI 2,1 ; and so and on depending on the amount of orders) *I only have 1 column in each data set.

Currently, the loop does iterate through 1 order and populates correctly in the website, however, when I add second order, the loop iterates twice as it should, but populates UI 1,1 and 2,1 with the first order, and then overwrites UI 1,1 and 2,1 with the second order.

I'm basically new at PAD and very stuck at this point.

Thanks for any help provided

Please find the below suggested flow for your use case(I haven't optimized your flow).

I've reviewed the code you shared above. However, could you please provide a detailed explanation of your use case? Additionally, sharing some screenshots related to your application would be helpful in understanding what you are trying to achieve here.

Here are the additional questions:

1. How did you extract the value from the clipboard? Was it from a web application or a Windows application? Please provide some screenshots to understand the data it holds and the type of UI element it is.

2. When you have the data in the clipboard, why are you adding it to Excel? Why not consider using another variable like a datatable, etc.?

3. In the shared screenshot, why are you using a double loop, like a for each and a loop? Any specific reason?

Please note that if you intend to loop through the datatable, using just one "for each" loop is adequate. For reading specific cells, you would call currentitem[0], currentitem[1], and so forth.

Hey @Deenuji , thanks for replying.

What I'm trying to achieve is to copy a group of order numbers and populate a number of rows in a webpage (see webpage screenshot).  I do not have fixed order numbers nor order amount. I want to replace the manual work of plugging in an order every time, specially when there are a lot of orders.

I used the Paste cells to Excel worksheet to organize the selected orders in a table manner, if that makes sense.

I believe that the issue is related to the Populate text field on web page loop , since it only works with one order, but when I add more than one order, it overwrites the information. (see flow screenshot)

Would you mind sharing some screenshots of your Excel document after you've pasted your group of order numbers? Additionally, could you manually add them to the webpage and take screenshots to provide us to  understand  your use case?

Thanks,

Deenu

@Deenuji

Here are the screenshots of de ideal result of the flow.

Doing a little more research, I think that I have to loop through the source rows and also through each of the table rows (tr), and my current loop only seems to iterate through the source rows, but only going into the same tr. How can I make a variable and a loop out of my UI element? I

One last info:

Please share the element id for the below highlighted table rows?

Deenuji_0-1708535064054.png

@Deenuji

Hope this helps.

I notice that tr id increments by 1 every time, starting from zero.

Orders-cell-0-0  (row 1)

Orders-cell-1-0  (row 2)

Orders-cell-2-0  (row 3)

@lilclss

Still We can't able figure it out the element which present inside the table td.

Please expand the td and show the element details which hold your order number

Thanks a lot @Deenuji . After using your suggestion and updating my flow with the correct UI elements, it worked. Very appreciated.

Hi @lilclss  I hope you are doing well.

First of all, what I see is that you are using the output from Excel variable %ExcelData%, this variable contains the rows and columns information that you are Reading.

Instead, you must use the %CurrentItem% which is the output from the action For Each.

Taking into consideration that PAD listing is based 0, if you have 2 columns with data, the numbers assigned to each column would be 0,1.

So, when you have data into the %CurrentItem% and let’s assume that your data goes like this, ColumnA, ColumnB the values will be assigned to the variable in this order:

  • ColumnA: %CurrentItem[0]%
  • ColumnB: %CurrentItem[1]%

Second, you are using a Loop action into the For Each action, my question here is why?

Because, basically the process should be as follow:

  1. Set Variable %Counter% as 1
  2. For Each Action
  3. Populate Action with %CurrentItem[0]% on Web Ui Column1 Row%Counter%
  4. Populate Action with %CurrentItem[1]% on Web Ui Column2 Row%Counter%
  5. Action Increase Variable %Counter% by 1
  6. Nex Look

Please let me know if it helps you, happy automation!,
