Power Automate for Desktop Fails to Find a Website Field

I am updating a web page and creating a log record in Excel. My flow  in Power Automate for Desktop reads a currency amount from a dialog into a variable, populates the batch number on the web page from the Excel sheet and sets a drop-down box in the web page.  The flow creates the rows in the Excel worksheet correctly and updates some of the web page fields correctly, but it fails to populate the currency amount field from the variable because the field is “not found”. Earlier actions in the flow extract the currency amount field from the web page and display the content to me. The field was found then. Seeing that the solution of running as administrator sometimes solves a problem, I tried that, but it made no difference. I also tried to focus on the field and send keys to it, but that produced the same “not found” error. What do I need to do to my flow to populate the currency amount field on the web page?

Does your form on the web page have more than one row? It seems to me like you captured the fields for the first row, but then there are more and they don't work because the selector is built for the first one.

There is more than one <div> element directly under the <form> element and you're not targeting the first one, but you have not provided an Ordinal property to it, indicating that the flow should target the first one.

Thank you for your interest. The web page as displayed looks like the amount field is a single item but my knowledge of HTML is limited. I changed the flow to write the currency amount to the Notes field and that works. Attached is a screenshot of the relevant part of the web page with the Notes and amount fields HTML alongside.

Can you also share the selector that works when populating the Notes field?

I have attached 2 screenshots of the selector for the Notes field which the flow does populate. I included the second screenshot in case the higher level fields are relevant.

Seems like the two are very different fields. Have you tried simply using input[name="amount"]  as the selector for the amount field?

I tried your suggestion of input[name = "amount"] and it was successful. My flow now does exactly what I wanted it to do. Are there any published guidelines advising when to replace the default selector?

I don't think there are guidelines for that published anywhere. The basic idea is to test it thoroughly and if it doesn't work, then make changes.

I would usually try to remove any class names and anything that seems like it could easily change from the selector, but knowledge of what to change usually comes with experience.
