A question regarding creating a a folder in the Documents Library and getting back the link

Hi all,

I looking for a solution that would allow users to upload several files at once while they are filling in the canvas app form and came up with the following scenario:

1. In the canvas app form user clicks a button to create a MAIN folder and several sub-folders within the MAIN folder in the SharePoint Document Library

2. User accesses the MAIN folder in the document library

3. User select several files and drops them in the selected sub-folder

At the moment, I have created a button that creates the MAIN folder in the SharePoint document library. Perhaps someone would have any advice regarding how to make the access to the created folder easier for the user? For example is it possible to get the link to the created folder and show it in the canvas app form?

Hi @Anonymous

Do you mean something like Launch from PowerApps?

Hi @Anonymous

If you are just looking for a link to the folder path you can simply add the folder path to the end of the site URL.

https://damobird365.sharepoint.com/sites/DamoBird365 <-sharepoint URL

/Shared%20Documents <- assuming default doc lib

/General/Test1 <- 2 folders deep

The URL to the Test1 folder which is in the General channel/folder would be:

https://damobird365.sharepoint.com/sites/DamoBird365/Shared%20Documents/General/Test1

Note that spaces need to be replaced with %20.

Is that what you are looking for?

Hi @DamoBird365 ,

Thank you for the reply. Can I automatically put that URL back to the sharepoint list so that it could appear in the canvas app?

Hi @DamoBird365 ,

Many thanks for the follow up! I have tried to follow the step of this blog post.

However, I encounter a problem  at step3 - it seems that i don't get any values from the flow.

Here is my flow:

mantastg08876_4-1615923004803.png

And this the OnSelect function: Set(varLinkToFolder, '[NPR]Createfolders'.Run(txt_ProductName.Text))

This flow can create folders in the SharePoint library, but unfortunately it cannot return the link back to the app. In the screenshot i try modify the Text of the label and a value from the flow. However, no options are available.

mantastg08876_5-1615923145722.png

Would you have any advice regarding this situation?

Hi @Anonymous,

I'll admit that I am not that experienced when it comes to Power Apps.  I would suggest that you either post on the Power App forum or see if either @Mira_Ghaly or @Pstork1 can help as they know both Automate and Apps and will be able to advise how you then call the variable with the URL that you have passed back to your Power App via the Flow.

Yes it looks just fine

I have noticed something on your set function for the varLinkToFolder

Set(varLinkToFolder, '[NPR]Createfolders'.Run(txt_ProductName.Text).linkfolder)
