Basic flows failing today? (Used to work on Friday)

Hi,

I have Flow, that sends approval email every time an item is created in sharepoint list. If the value of the item is greater than some limit (both values are stored in columns of the item) it sends one more email in case the first person approved it. In the end it updates the item and fills in the name of approvers with their choice and date. This Flow used to work like a charm on Thursday and Friday, but today it fails to load any data from the list items and often fails on different steps.

For example, first test today went like this: Item was created > Flow started > email was sent > Email subject was "Please approve [Title]" and the title loaded from item without problem, but the email body didnt load any columns from that item (should load item ID and name of the person, who created it) > in case forst approver rejected, it updated the item, but in case they approved, it went into condition if value > limit and it failed on this condition, because it couldnt load value and limit columns.

In another run I tried to add [ID] into the email subject and the title stopped working and it didnt load any columns.

So I made new Flow, that just sends email when item is created and update the item (without the second step approval). This Flow sometimes fails at the very first step (When new item is created) and sometimes it gets to the email (2nd step), but if fails to load the Approver email from the list. I than tried to insert mail recipient directly into the flow. It managed to send email, but after I approved the item, it failed to update the item columns, because it couldnt read any values from the item. (ID was empty, value was enpty and so on, eventho it loaded correct values in the first step)

Is it some temporal bug, or what could be wrong?

Thanks for any help.

Hello,

It seems @Duchy90 that you are not the only one suffering issues today in work with the SP. I work on workflows for for SP Lists and when my work form last week that worked perfectly started to fail I also began some testing.

I have created simple flow to just send e-mail when item is created :

 1.png

However in respong I get the message just with the "hard coded" values, just the plain text itself. To make the whole situation even more weird template "Send a customized email when a new SharePoint list item is added" seems to work, but as soon as I added a variable from the created item, the whole flow returns with an error

 template output.png

Some of us have notice the emails breaking last week. We did some testing, but as far as I know, none of us could get emails working.

You can follow the thread here: https://powerusers.microsoft.com/t5/Flow-Forum/Invalid-Template-error-using-create-file-from-email-a...

I hope this helps,

I'm getting the same errors this morning, trying to send an email when a new item is created in SharePoint Online. Usually the Flow fails with the message that the field can't be read, but even it succeeds and sends an email, the email does not contain any of the fields from the SharePoint item that triggered it.

We have identified the issue and are working on resolving it.

Thanks for the feedback 😉

I hope this helps,

Please recreate the flow and let us know if the issue still persists. The fix has been deployed.

Yup, works now...

Seems much faster too, thanks !

I hope this helps,

My flow is not picking up the dynamic values in emails? Please Advise

I'm pulling valuse from a list and using the SendGrid Send Email Action

@Mack could you describe your flow. Also if it is not related to this post please file a new one and we can follow up there.

The flow is a basic flow that was working last week on the 25th - I have a library with promoted values and I'm pulling those values into a SendGrid "Send Email" action.  I can see the output values being picked up in the SharePoint action but they are not being picked up by the email action.

We are using this for a ticketing system.

@Mack could you recreate the flow or delete all cards and try to re-create the flow. If it still doesn't work please paste the url of the flow. It should look something similar to this. https://flow.microsoft.com/manage/flows/cf125b42-cdca-47bc-985a-e48ed4050801

@prabir I have recreated the flow twice and It's not working. Something must be wrong with the SendGrid Send Email action. The reason I need the SendGrid action is that I need to be able to specify the "From:" address in addition to it being plain text. I tested with the basic send email action but I cannot specify the From: address.

@prabir any update?

I tested with sharepoint on new item created with send grid send an email and it ran correctly.

Did you also refresh the browser so the new version is picked up?

Could you try recreating the the flow in incognito or inprivate browsing mode or by clearing the cache?

Did every thing but the problem still exist

Hi,

@prabir  thanks for quick reply. I recreated the Flow and it seems that the values from item metadata loads into the mail correctly, but the Flows fails right after the mail on the next condition.

approval fail.PNG

The condition is very simple, just compare 2 values, so I dont know why it fails ... maybe it cant load data from the item again? Cant see any details on the Condition step about the fail.

approval fail 2.PNG

Both values are just integers and the condition used to work in the past.

Is it another bug or am I doing something wrong?

Thanks for any help!
