Flow with On Premises File System Connector

I Want to create a folder on a local server using data from a SharePoint list and put some files in there. I made this very basic flow that illustrates the problem:

2019-06-12_14-21-05.png

If the folder already exists this flow works fine and a file is created in the given subfolder. When it does not it throws an error. Now the documentation is very silent on this topic but elsewhere it was suggested that this should work as long as you're creating a file which is good enough for me.

Tried all kinds of syntaxes including basckslashes, full paths, dynamic variables etc. but nothing works: a folder is not created. The account has Full Controll rights over the given folder path.

Please advise.

Could you please share error message?

This is what I get:
{
"status": 400,
"message": "The requested action could not be completed. Check your request parameters to make sure the path '/Subfolder2/Test.txt' exists on your file system.\r\nclientRequestId: be21ad71-60b5-45c8-9c47-2344da0d671c",

Hi @peterof63,

I tested it on my side like you said create a new folder name in the file path name and create a new file, no problem. Below is a screenshot of my test.Annotation 2019-06-14 131648.png

Annotation 2019-06-14 131724.png

It's important to note that the flow's flawed interaction with file path input, you need to enter a dynamic content when entering a new folder name, and then delete the dynamic content before entering your new folder name.

Thanks for the suggestions but alas, it doesn't work here.

This is what I did:

  1. I first verified that it works without a path to ensure that the gateway is indeed properly setup:
    2019-06-14_08-50-34.png
  2. And indeed it does:
    2019-06-14_08-49-56.png
  3. Then I added the dynamic variable:
    2019-06-14_08-50-34.png
  4. Removed the dynamic variable and added the value I want for the actual folder (I also tried first adding the actual folder name and then removing the dynamic variable which didn't make any difference):
    2019-06-14_08-51-19.png
  5. And tried to run the Flow again:
    2019-06-14_08-52-42.png
  6. And again it fails...
{
"status": 400,
"message": "The requested action could not be completed. Check your request parameters to make sure the path '/Testfolder/Test.txt' exists on your file system.\r\nclientRequestId: 230e6b99-b031-49b9-8a4b-f1e80fb7f611",
"source": "filesystem-we.azconn-we.p.azurewebsites.net"
}

Oops, I noticed that the first step in the sequence above shows the City dynamic variable already in there but it was not. So don’t think that it worked with that variable as it didn’t.

Hi @peterof63,

Sorry for the descrip of the steps:

It's important to note that the flow's flawed interaction with file path input, you need to enter a dynamic content when entering a new folder name, and then delete the dynamic content before entering your new folder name.

Change into :

Hi,

Thanks for the feedback but it still isn't working. Tried several variations on the order of entering dynamic variables and the desired path (delete before/after) but I keep having errors. Even tried using only the dynamic variable itself but even that's not working. This is what I got following your suggested sequence:

{
"status": 400,
"message": "The requested action could not be completed. Check your request parameters to make sure the path '/Testfolder/Test.txt' exists on your file system.\r\nclientRequestId: 7f5e6c73-941b-4abf-9584-c22c097bd5b9",
"source": "filesystem-we.azconn-we.p.azurewebsites.net"
}

Given that this seems to be a known problem for Microsoft, is there some fix being worked on?

Hi @peterof63,

This is my steps to creating a file, I think you have a problem with the root path:

Step1:

Hi,

This is exactly as I tried it several times. Also variations on this sequence but none of them get me any further.

I made a screen recording of the steps to show the exact steps I take to show you that I indeed follow the right steps in proper order.

Unfortunately I cannot upload a video on this platform.

Hi @peterof63,

You can convert the video into Gif file and upload it.

Here it is:

Hi @peterof63,

Have you tried this way? Initialize a variable to store the value of the file path.Annotation 2019-06-17 170928.png

Yes I did and that didn't work either.

Hi @peterof63,

Do you still have the problem in the excel file?

I guess you're mixing up my question with someone else's?

Though I directly would want to inquire if there's any follow up on my issue?

Hi @peterof63,

About your question you can refer to this post:

Hope it will help you.

Tried that before and it doesn't work (at least here it doesn't).

I guess I just ran into some Flow bug. Could it be a localization issue (I'm running a dutch environment)?

Hi @peterof63,

It should not a local issue. Have you tried to create a new connection in the file system?
