Convert outlook attachment to link

Please accept my apologies of this has been covered, but I really cannot find a solution anywhere and have been looking for the last couple of days.

My firm is migrating to O365E3 and want to replace their Citrix Sharefile service with SharePoint. I know this can be done using manual "copy link" functions, however what they are specifically looking for is being able to drag a file to outlook prior sending an email, then have O365 (most likely Flow) replace the attachment with a link to the file in Sharepoint.

For example, if a file is dragged into an email, then ideally we need the service to upload the file to Shapoint Online (say a general "attachments site", create a link and then delete the attachment in outlook and finally paste the link into the body of the email... Very much how Citrix Sharefile does this.

Does anyone know if this is possible with Flow?
It seems as though Flow can do a lot with incoming mail and attachments, but not outgoing mail to help with security.

I know O365 has email encryption, but we wondered if this more user friendly method of sending attachments was possible because we could then implement standard security rules for files with external links.

Many many thanks for your time on this if you know of an article that can help.

Jon

This is currently the behavior for Outlook if the file being attached to the email is saved in OneDrive for Business. Since OneDrive for Business now supports syncing your desktop, documents, and pictures folders to OneDrive this also applies to anything stored in those locations. If I try to attach a file that is stored in any of those locations Outlook will prompt me to ask if I really want to attach the file or just a link. I then have the option to attach the actual file or embed a sharing link instead. But as far as I know this only works with OneDrive at this point.

I agree with your assesment that I don't see any way to involve Flow in this with outgoing email.

Thank you Pstork1.

I hadn't fully realised the capability of One Drive for Business. I had been focused on documents just saved on a file server that would be dragged and dropped, but the end goal will be replacing a file server with SPO/ODfB so I think my issue never really was one.

I'll look into achieving full utilisation of SPO/ODfB sooner with your response in mind.

Thank you again, I really do appreciate your help.

Hello Guys, My Org has lot of users facing High OST size issues. I was thinking if there is a way, Outlook attachment gets saved into OneDrive and original attachment is replaced with Some sort of Link to that OneDrive Location. ... This will overall reduce the OST file size.  .. I was able to achieve 1st part but unable to replace the original attachment as a Link... Does anyone has any suggestions

Please post this as a new question.  You'll get more responses and others will be able to find the answer more easily later.
