Display Results of an array - power automate

Hello,

Newbie on power automate flows. I have set up a flow where I can filter only those that have 'FAIL' on their row from html_to_text.

However, when I try to display the results, it changes the format. If I try to split it, it just adds additional commas instead of splitting.

So from the first screenshot, this is the filterarray where I have a condition to search for FAIL and remove NULL.

This is the result from the filter array where it contains '"FAIL". The output here is my desired outputThis is the result from the filter array where it contains '"FAIL". The output here is my desired output

After filterarray, I created a compose to show all the results. However, it changed the format.

This is when I retrieve the output from the array. The format changed so it's hard to read.This is when I retrieve the output from the array. The format changed so it's hard to read.

I then tried to use split to get the same output but it just added extra characters.

This is what happens when I try using split.This is what happens when I try using split.

Here's the applytoeach where I put the condition and then the filterarray where I removed the null values

This is how I'd achieve what you're after with regards to extracting just the failed items and adding to your spreadsheet.

  1. Use Filter array to filter out all null values AND only keep values that contain FAIL
  2. Iterate through each of the items from Filter array
    1. Add the item to the spreadsheet in a new row

Below is the full flow. Note that I'm just using a static array of raw input that you'd get from your email.

Compose just has some sample data that you actually get from your email and convert from HTML to Text.

Filter array removes null items AND includes only items that contain FAIL. Note that the expression I use here is:

and(not(equals(item(),null)),contains(item(),'FAIL'))

NOTE that you need to add the ampersand character at the front as per the screenshot. Every time I tried to add that in this post it just stripped it out 😞

Finally, we iterate over each of the items in the Filter array and add each one to a new row in your Excel file using Add a row into a table. We just use the following expression for Item:

item()

The output would be something like that below:

Are you just wanting to add all the items that have "FAIL" in them as new lines to the spreadsheet?

And, where is this data initially coming from? (In case there is an easier way than the filter array here.)

Hi!
Data is coming from the body of email converted from HTML to text. I needed the filter array so that I can filter the rows that contains 'FAIL' (because it has 240 rows to parse when converted to text).

I want the 'FAIL' items to be separated by a new line and not appear as one block of text in the spreadsheet. I tried the split function but I must be doing something wrong because it's not working for me.

Something like below so that it's easier to read:
["somerow: 92356 > 360000 FAIL"]
["Status: 88124 > 240000 FAIL"]

Instead of : ["somerow: 92356 > 360000 FAIL", "Status: 88124 > 240000 FAIL","somerow3: 92356 > 360000 FAIL","Status: 88124 > 240000 FAIL","somerow4: 63 = 65 FAIL"]

Thank you! That made me save a few steps. Although the result I wanted was just to "join" all the text and "separate" them with the enter key and not separate them per row in the spreadsheet. I guess I just didn't know the proper term to describe what I wanted to happen. Sorry about that. In any case, this solved my other issue as well so I'll tag this as a solution.

Here's what I did to obtain the output that I wanted: https://debajmecrm.com/convert-an-array-to-string-in-power-automate-microsoft-flow/

Now, this displays the output in a readable format, separated by "enter", shows items with 'FAIL' text, and, shows specific rows based on the second filter array I've created.
