Hi,
For the flow which trigger condition is "When an event is added, updated or deleted (V3)", when the event is created, sometimes the Flow triggers twice: two times with the same action type 'added'. Could anyone have an idea, thanks in advance for your help.
Hey @CRM-X , @liivalaid ,
not directly a solution but have you already checked if the same errors occurs while only using "When an event is created" instead of "When an event is added, updated or deleted"?
Which event type triggered that flow twice?
Hi
Thanks for the reply.
Seems like error doesnt occur when using "when an event is created". It only occurs when using "when an event is added, updated or deleted"
I created a blank flow using two things
trigger: when an event is added, updated or deleted
action: delay 5s
and that was all. Still it was triggered two times. I think microsoft has this trigger broken.
I cannot use two or more different flows, i want all to be in the same flow.
I need to copy calendar items to another calendar when item is added, i want to add event. When item is modified, i want to update current item and when its deleted i want to delete it from other calendar.
PS! Event type "added" triggered it twice.
Checked it out by myself and have to say, same for me with the "event is added, updated or deleted" trigger.
I tested it for a while now and have to say, that it's not a direct solution but there would be a workaround available.
Create your flow and test ist with e.g. a testing event. After the first run, the trigger acts, in my case, normally as it should.
If the "added" trigger as well would run twice for me, i haven't tested but i assume the same workaround would help here as well.
I'm sorry but i'm not sure that i understand whats the workaround here?
I didnt even create any switches or triggers. Just the plain "event is added, updated or deleted". Created event in my outlook, power automate would trigger the flow because i added event and randomly triggers it again.
Weird is that its no triggering always twice. Randomly. Sometimes twice, sometimes once
Hey @liivalaid ,
well, for my testing setup now i get the issue, that it was triggered three times in a row.
As well it shown up, that it triggered as well twice for a second event...
So my suggested workaorund isn't existent anymore.
Checking your answer above what you like to do.
The only way for you is to use that trigger type, because there are seperate triggers for "added" and "modified" but not "deleted".
The fact is, that the trigger you need to use only reacts weird at "added" not by the other ones, right?
The solution for me would be here, to create in total two flows.
That would solve you the issue with triggering multiple times during "added" option.
What you need to check is if the event Id is the same when you copy it to another calender. It might be that the Id will be different, that means is you want to modify or delete the event on the other calender when it's changed on your side you need to save anywhere the event Id's to make sure your flow will run as you want it to.
Sadly you only get the information, that the event is modified but not what was changed. As well for deleted you will get the information that it was deleted but and only the Id. So no comparisn using the name is possible.
Thanks for the reply. Seems something i would try but using two separate flows seems kind of bad idea tho we have a flow that should do all the work.
I got it to work, all my tests seem creating only one event but it triggers sometimes twice tho.
@lardo5150 sorry that i tagged you but you seemed most active Microsoft employee.
So until Microsoft fixes their trigger i made a workaround myself
1. When triggered "when an event is added, updated or modified" (outlook app) and action is "added"
2. Get event createdDateTime from added outlook event
3. Get all items from sharepoint calendar but list only 2 newest items
4. Extract only custom field "test id" from sharepoint "get all items" action
5. Take the first entry from extracted data
6. Compare action nr5 with action nr2
7. If it is the same (event already exists) then dont trigger the flow
It was annoying to make extra 6 steps to get this one simple flow to work so it wouldnt create duplicate events into my sharepoint calendar.
Hey @liivalaid ,
if that way works for you glad you found a solution that will work for you.
No chance you have a screen shot of the changes you made to flow ? 🙂
