MS Form response finds list item and updates list

Hi, 

 

I am using a Sharepoint List as a log and to automatically send an MS Form to an email address. When I receive a response, I want the details to be logged in the empty columns of a specific list item. I thought I had achieved this following this flow Update SharePoint List record with MS Form response by @ScottShearer - However, I have went live with the list today and started 30 items - expecting the response from each form to fill the correct row - first reply come through and it filled in every row. now every reply I get fills in every row. I hope some one can help me resolve this if possible. yikes.

Your filter in "Get Items" needs to have the SharePoint column name and what it is equal to (eq).

 

So if you had a sharepoint column titled "SPEmail" and you want to filter by that column using the form response "Email", then the filter query would look like SPEmail eq '[Email]'

 

Can you double check the Get Items filter query and see if that helps your issue.

Thank you - the flow has run successfully, but none of the items have updated with the response. 

How many items returned from the "Get Items" when the flow ran successfully?

all of the columns on the list remained unchanged after the response was sent - the status says succeeded, but no changes at all

On the flow that succeeded, go look at the run history and look at the Apply to Each. It should have something that is like 1 of 10, and a next button to go through the next 2 of 10 and so on.

In the screenshot above my "Apply to Each" is showing 1 of 3. That means there were 3 apply to each loops on the "Get Items"; therefore my "Get Items" returned 3 items.

 

Does your "Apply to Each" have a number of results? Can you show a screenshot of the result of the successful flow?

ah I see! on a previous successful flow (which has filled all columns, not what I wanted) this has returned 18 Screenshot 2023-05-30 at 23.16.11.png

since making the change to eq the get items is grey, as though it hasn't happened.

If you don't have anything in the Apply to Each, that means that the Get Items didn't return anything. The filter query is incorrect, or needs to be changed so that it is getting the items you want. Right now the filter is basically filtering out ALL of the SP List items, so the query returns nothing.

 

That means that your SharePoint list doesn't contain the email address from the form. OR If you know the email address from the form is in the SP List, then you need to check the formatting and make sure it matches. (Like the form email "Person.Last@Email.com" will not match a SP List email "person.last@email.com" since the capitalized letters from the form email do not match the lower case letters from the SP List email.)

 

 

thank you - you have just led me to look at the tolower function, which was incorrect, however I noticed that there were two options in the dynamic content for one question asked in the form - in this instance 'Email' was repeated twice - I picked the second option in the dynamic content list and it has run successfully and updated the list! Thank you very much for your assistance. saved me a migraine.

Summer of Solutions | Week 4 Results | Winners will be posted on July 24th

We are excited to announce the Summer of Solutions Challenge!    This challenge is kicking off on Monday, June 17th and will run for (4) weeks.  The challenge is open to all Power Platform (Power Apps, Power Automate, Copilot Studio & Power Pages) community members. We invite you to participate in a quest to provide solutions to as many questions as you can. Answers can be provided in all the communities.    Entry Period: This Challenge will consist of four weekly Entry Periods as follows (each an “Entry Period”)   - 12:00 a.m. PT on June 17, 2024 – 11:59 p.m. PT on June 23, 2024 - 12:00 a.m. PT on June 24, 2024 – 11:59 p.m. PT on June 30, 2024 - 12:00 a.m. PT on July 1, 2024 – 11:59 p.m. PT on July 7, 2024 - 12:00 a.m. PT on July 8, 2024 – 11:59 p.m. PT on July 14, 2024   Entries will be eligible for the Entry Period in which they are received and will not carryover to subsequent weekly entry periods.  You must enter into each weekly Entry Period separately.   How to Enter: We invite you to participate in a quest to provide "Accepted Solutions" to as many questions as you can. Answers can be provided in all the communities. Users must provide a solution which can be an “Accepted Solution” in the Forums in all of the communities and there are no limits to the number of “Accepted Solutions” that a member can provide for entries in this challenge, but each entry must be substantially unique and different.    Winner Selection and Prizes: At the end of each week, we will list the top ten (10) Community users which will consist of: 5 Community Members & 5 Super Users and they will advance to the final drawing. We will post each week in the News & Announcements the top 10 Solution providers.  At the end of the challenge, we will add all of the top 10 weekly names and enter them into a random drawing.  Then we will randomly select ten (10) winners (5 Community Members & 5 Super Users) from among all eligible entrants received across all weekly Entry Periods to receive the prize listed below.
