My flow only triggers after 2 modifications

Dear Community,

I have a flow that triggers an automated email and an automated message via Teams when a specific field of an item is modified in a Sharepoint list.

My problem is that the flow only triggers after 2 modifications have been done.
I receive the two emails and the two messages in the same time after the second change.

I need the flow to be triggered with only 1 change.

Thanks for your help !

Hi @Anonymous ,

Currently there is no similar trigger in MS Flow to monitor whether the specified field has changed.

If you want similar feature to be supported by MS Flow, please consider voting for following similar thread:

In addition, some users try to use HTTP request to monitor whether the specified field has changed. Please refer to the following Blogs and see if it helps:

The flow will trigger everytime you change anything on the particular list item and save the column itself. If you want to trigger it after making multiple edits on a single item, you should use the edit all button and then save to trigger the flow with multiple changes.

Example:xxs.PNG

If you directly click on a particular field and edit that it will auto save and detect the change and trigger the flow. So if you change multiple fields like that the flow gets triggered those many number of times. The edit all button allows editing of multiple fields and saves them all and that is how the flow will trigger one time. Makes sense?

Hope this Helps!

@yashag2255

Thanks for your message,

In fact I want the flow triggers everytime I change the data to "Yes" on a particular column (Yes/No column).

That's why I've added a condition "triggerbody()[column's value] ; is equal to ; "Yes"

--> See below

flow2.png

So normally the flow will trigger only if I Input "Yes" on this column (for any item).

My problem is that the flow doesn't triggers after updating one item.

Example :

- Change n°1 (item 1) : I change the field to Yes on the Yes/No column  : Nothing happened

- Change n°2 (item 2) : I change the field to Yes on the Yes/No column  : The flow is executed two times (for the change n°1 and the change n°2).

  • That mean I received the two emails (one for the first change and the other for the second change).

My point is, I don't understand why the flow doesn't triggers after the change n°1 but only if I make another change on another item.

Hope it's clear enough.

Thank you

HI @Anonymous

Note: Irrespective of the column, as you have used the trigger : "When an item is created or modified", the flow will trigger every time an item is created or modified in that list. There might have been some issue that the flow did not trigger at that moment itself.

Can you please make a small test and see if you continue to face this error:

1. Create an item in the list and select the No option in the Yes/No column. Check the run history of the flow to confirm that the flow was executed.

2. Come back to SP and select that item you just created and modify the column and select Yes. it will auto save and then you can go back to the run history to check if the flow was executed.

Can you please try this out and let us know if you continue to face the issue?

Hope this Helps!

Hi @yashag2255 ,

I confirm that my flow is trigerred once an item is modified (whatever the column).

How can I set it up in order to trigger the flow only if a specific field is modified in an item (example "Yes" in a "Yes/No" column) ?

Thank you

Hi @Anonymous

Currently a trigger to monitor a particular column is not supported in flow. There has been an idea request to include this as a feature in the upcoming releases. You can find the idea posted here and upvote it too.
