Start and Wait for an approval/Create an approval not working

Hello,

 

From past 2 hours, our created flows are not working properly and they are stuck at Start and Wait for an approval/Create an approval action. After sometime, it just gives this error- "Looks like your flow's operation is hitting an action limit designed to protect the connector service being called."

I even tried created a small flow with just these actions, but it is still the same result. It started happening 2 hours back.

Is there any open issue/tenant update going on for Power Automate? Any pointer will be helpful

I am afraid I cannot reproduce a similar situation here, please check my test result:

I speculate that this is an issue, but I cannot confirm it here. And we have not received any messages about similar issues currently. Please consider contacting Microsoft Support directly to assist you in solving this problem:

For what it's worth I'm also seeing the same error.

"Looks like your flow's operation is hitting an action limit designed to protect the connector service being called."

I tried triggering a batch of approvals and some were canceled and some were not.

Yes, we are still facing the issue intermittently and raised a ticket with MS support. As per them, there is a throttling limit of 50 requests/5 mins. Refer this link- https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/connectors/approvals/#start-and-wait-for-an-approval

Is there any way to overcome this? Any plan upgrades or any other action. We are planning to use "Send email with options" but that does not give the approver provision to enter the comments!

Moreover, it affects the whole environment when this issue appears and then it gets rectified by itself in an hour or so. Its really a pain now!

We're facing the same problem and the flow run failed.

It worked perfectly before. And I'm sure that we don't reach 50 actions / 5 minutes.

Here is the description:

429. The request failed. Error code: 'CdsInstanceProvisioningIncomplete'. Error Message: 'A Common Data Service database for this environment has not completed provisioning or does not yet support the requested approvals functionality. Please try again later.'.

We had raised this with Microsoft support team and they replied - "

The dev has got back to us regarding error 429 stating that the number of servers has been increased and you should not be facing this issue."

Post this, we did not face the issue. But now we are avoiding using "Start and Wait for an Approval" action and instead we have created an approval form in power apps to get the approval and comments. Hope this helps !!

We faced same issue. Below is what we did.

 

MSFLOW user - flowdev@microsoft.com was not assigned approval administrator role. This was the issue. Once the user is assigned the approval administrator role, the approvals started working.
 
I just checked all the troubleshooting steps mentioned int he below link and this was the one which was missing.

What is the Recurrence schedule? this error normally comes when the API request limit exceeds beyond the license we hold or if the same account is being in many other flows.

Summer of Solutions | Week 4 Results | Winners will be posted on July 24th

We are excited to announce the Summer of Solutions Challenge!    This challenge is kicking off on Monday, June 17th and will run for (4) weeks.  The challenge is open to all Power Platform (Power Apps, Power Automate, Copilot Studio & Power Pages) community members. We invite you to participate in a quest to provide solutions to as many questions as you can. Answers can be provided in all the communities.    Entry Period: This Challenge will consist of four weekly Entry Periods as follows (each an “Entry Period”)   - 12:00 a.m. PT on June 17, 2024 – 11:59 p.m. PT on June 23, 2024 - 12:00 a.m. PT on June 24, 2024 – 11:59 p.m. PT on June 30, 2024 - 12:00 a.m. PT on July 1, 2024 – 11:59 p.m. PT on July 7, 2024 - 12:00 a.m. PT on July 8, 2024 – 11:59 p.m. PT on July 14, 2024   Entries will be eligible for the Entry Period in which they are received and will not carryover to subsequent weekly entry periods.  You must enter into each weekly Entry Period separately.   How to Enter: We invite you to participate in a quest to provide "Accepted Solutions" to as many questions as you can. Answers can be provided in all the communities.
