Start and wait for an approval not sending email

When a file is created in a folder an approvle process starts to either approve or reject the file. When I test using the test button, it sends the emails just fine. However, when creating the new file, it just stays in the running stage. Am I missing something?

@Anonymous :

In your screen shot, it appears as though the Flow is waiting for a response from the approver or approvers.  This behavior is "as designed".  Did you take action on the approval?  Are you saying that the email wasn't sent?  Does the approval appear in the approvals center for the approver?

The email is not sent. There is no approval in my approvals center. I am in the testing phase and I have set myself as the assigned approver.

@Anonymous :

Can you send a screen shot of you Flow in design view?  Please include the approval configuration in the screen shot.

I din't see anything wrong with your Flow from the screen shot.

I just did a quick test and had no issues - email was sent, approval was in approvals center.  Everything worked as designed.

I would double check the connection used with the approval and make sure that it looks healthy.

I might also delete what you have in "Assigned To" and re-add it.

I did notice that you are using Start and Wait for an approval.  You might want to use Start and Wait for an approval (V2) instead although what you have should work.  If you do this, the response is available via "outcome" rather than "response".

Bottomline is this - I would delete/re-add the approval action.

@ScottShearer

I deleted it. I am having mixed success now out of 3 tests I have recived 1 email. However, all of them have shown up in my approval center.

Im getting the same issue, the flow only seems to send the email the 1st time i set it up.  Every test afterwards doesnt send an email.

This functionality was working flawlessly a few days ago but for some reason it stopped working today.

I ended up using a workaround.

I used the "Create an Approval" and then the "Wait for an Approval" actions which seems to send out an email consistently now.

Hi,

Are you physically creating a new file?
Or using the test - data from previous run?

Please try creating a new file

Me too!  The approval task is created, but no notification is sent (so the approver has no idea they need to do anything).  Nothing I do seems to be helping, including using separate start and wait approval actions.  This was working a few weeks ago...

Edit: I was an idiot, I had a rule setup to send my Automate emails to a different Outlook folder, which I wasn't monitoring.

Did you ever figure this out? I'm having the same problem

@lesismore2

I suggest that you start a new post with your question and include a screen shot of your Flow.  I'm certain that you'll get a response.
