You are not authorized to send mail on behalf of the specified sending account.

This flow is part of a Time Off Request app.  Originally approval emails were being sent to employees from my email address, instead of the Approver.  I made changes (see attached) to have email sent "From" the Approver and I now receive the "You are not authorized to send mail on behalf of the specified sending account." error message.  Any help would be greatly appreciated!

If you are going to fill in the From field then the account that is used as the security context of the flow will need Send on Behalf of permission to that mailbox.  If the flow is automated that means the maker of the flow needs that permission for every approver mailbox.  If the flow is triggered manually then every user will need that permission.  Its not practical.

I am working as a consultant, and need to set this to run after I leave. We NEED the "From" address to be a service account email address. How do we setup these flows to run after I finish my contract and leave the company (and they disable my account)?

If you want to send the emails as a service account then you should be creating the flow while logged in as that servcie account. That will send the email from that account.  Using the From field will require that the user running the flow has that permission to the account.  If you are a consultant who will be leaving the company then that's another reason to create the flow while logged in as the service account.  Otherwise the flow will stop working when your account is disabled.

Can I just change the connector on the email action to the service account? Or, are you saying that once my account is disabled (when I leave), the entire flow will not function? Thank you in advance.

If you are the maker (owner) of the flow and your account is disabled the flow will stop functioning until a new valid owner is added.  So yes you should have an owner on the flow that will not be disabled.

I have "Send As" permissions for the "From" email I've selected but am still getting the error. Any suggestions?

Hi @gillgamm.

You need to be sure the account you are using for the "From" address is configured to allow you to send as them. Hope that helps.

Summer of Solutions | Week 4 Results | Winners will be posted on July 24th

We are excited to announce the Summer of Solutions Challenge!    This challenge is kicking off on Monday, June 17th and will run for (4) weeks.  The challenge is open to all Power Platform (Power Apps, Power Automate, Copilot Studio & Power Pages) community members. We invite you to participate in a quest to provide solutions to as many questions as you can. Answers can be provided in all the communities.    Entry Period: This Challenge will consist of four weekly Entry Periods as follows (each an “Entry Period”)   - 12:00 a.m. PT on June 17, 2024 – 11:59 p.m. PT on June 23, 2024 - 12:00 a.m. PT on June 24, 2024 – 11:59 p.m. PT on June 30, 2024 - 12:00 a.m. PT on July 1, 2024 – 11:59 p.m. PT on July 7, 2024 - 12:00 a.m. PT on July 8, 2024 – 11:59 p.m. PT on July 14, 2024   Entries will be eligible for the Entry Period in which they are received and will not carryover to subsequent weekly entry periods.  You must enter into each weekly Entry Period separately.   How to Enter: We invite you to participate in a quest to provide "Accepted Solutions" to as many questions as you can. Answers can be provided in all the communities. Users must provide a solution which can be an “Accepted Solution” in the Forums in all of the communities and there are no limits to the number of “Accepted Solutions” that a member can provide for entries in this challenge, but each entry must be substantially unique and different.    Winner Selection and Prizes: At the end of each week, we will list the top ten (10) Community users which will consist of: 5 Community Members & 5 Super Users and they will advance to the final drawing. We will post each week in the News & Announcements the top 10 Solution providers.  At the end of the challenge, we will add all of the top 10 weekly names and enter them into a random drawing.  Then we will randomly select ten (10) winners (5 Community Members & 5 Super Users) from among all eligible entrants received across all weekly Entry Periods to receive the prize listed below.
