Video 8 - When I move the date (under DimDate) into the rows it doesnt bring up the loans but brings up (Year, Quarter, Month, Dates) but not actual loans

Hi guys,

Apologies if this has been asked by another learner. But I couldnt find any questions on this

When I add the date to the rows in Video 8 for Power BI (the dated added do not show me the loans for those videos).

Ive gone back a number of times and the same is happening. Is anyone able to advise me on this issue.

Please see below screen shot of where I am at the moment.

To explain it further in Video 8. Create a date dimension for my report - in 13.12, Roy is dragging the Date into the Rows which allows him to expand the figures for the months (in this case January) and it shows him the loans for Jan 2024. However, when I do the same thing the "Date" automatically adds Year, Quarter, Month and Date as if I created a hierarchy which I haven't and I cant see the figures for say Jan 2024 instead it takes me on a loop and when I click on 2024 and then Jan it goes back to year, quarter, month and date with no figures.

If anyone can assist with this I would really appreciate it.

@Amaad  -- well documented. thanks for sharing.

@Wendy7 , @Oyin@smc0829 -- as you've helped with some other questions, are you able to replicate and shed some light on this issue?

When adding “Date” to the matrix, it gets added as a hierarchy, not as a regular date as shown in the video. To have it appear as it should, instead of dragging “Date” to the Rows in the matrix, click the ellipsis menu and add it to the SchoolYear hierarchy, then click to expand the SchoolYear hierarchy and drag “Date” to the rows in the matrix.
