Hi All
Have enabled Geo location and added a 'Address input component (Preview)' input into a app.
The address auto-fill works great but I can't figure out what command to add to a reset button to clear it back to blank.
It's part of a form with some hidden fields that pull aspects of the address which works great but because i can't clear/reset it the fields won't clear either.
Manually entering and deleting the text isn't really a great workaround.
Anyone come across this or have a solution?
Cheers
Hi @Anonymous ,
So as I was replying, I tried a few different mechanisms, and it appears there is very specific behaviour here that I missed because of how I'm using it. So here's the behaviour;
So imagine two buttons - one sets the variable for default to non-blank, the next sets the variable to blank. If you push them in succession, it will reset the control input. If you try and do both on one button - it doesn't work.
Obviously the user experience for this is pretty tacky, but with some magic and mirrors, you can make it look pretty seamless.
Add a Timer, set it's Duration to 1, Auto Start to false and Repeat to false.
(Duration can actually be anywhere up to 50 because even at 1 you get a bit of 'jitter' as your non-blank value flashes through your input - so instead of trying to make the timer almost instantaneous, we just deal with the jitter and make it seamless.)
Set the timer's OnTimerStart: property to;
UpdateContext({
varAddressColor:Transparent,
varAddress: "not blank"
})
Set the timer's OnTimerEnd: property to;
UpdateContext({
varAddress: "",
varAddressColor:Black
})
Add an Address Input control.
Set its Default: property to
varAddress
Set its Color: property to
If(IsBlank(varAddressColor), Black, varAddressColor)
This logic is just to deal with the variable being empty on app start until it's set for the first time.
Test it out - if you add an address and then hit the timer it should "reset" your address input quite nicely. Once you're happy, resize and format the timer to be transparent and have a black X for text, then place it on the right-inside edge of your address input. Adjust your address input right padding to make space for it and remove hover and pressed properties that change how it looks when someone hovers over it or presses it. Now it looks like the "clear text" X you get on a text input.
Hope this helps,
RT
Hi @RusselThomas,
I was now able to rebuild this using your good description and it works exactly as I had hoped.
Thank you very much for your support.
Best Regards

Hi, I'm assuming you have probably found a way of doing this by now but I have only just had this same annoying problem.
The only way I could think of doing this was to insert a reset icon, and have that icon navigate to a duplicate of the screen but with the addition of a timer control. Set the OnStart of the timer control to navigate you back to your original screen & the address input control should be cleared.
Bit of a messy way to do it but sadly there does not seem to be a normal way of doing it.
Hi @adamcartercloud ,
I have now implemented this quite differently and do without the address input.
In my app I have added a normal text input box, plus a magnifying glass icon.
The user enters a street and/or city name in the text box and then clicks on the magnifying glass, triggering a flow that uses a similar feature from Bing Maps (autosuggest). The more accurate the user enters the information, the higher the hit probability.
Regards
Herb
