Barcode scanner and windows tablet

All,

I created a powerapp using a barcode scanner for QR codes. It is working perfectly on IOS and Android platforms.

As a company we invested in windows tablet because power app and SharePoint are more and more the standard within the company.

However when using the app's with the barcode scanner they don't seem to be supported in a windows environment. This is also mentioned in the support site of Microsoft (which I found out of coarse after the investment).

Is there any work around this issue?

The only real solution (that I have found on a Windows device) is a separate handheld scanner in the USB port.  From the App perspective, it's actually a little easier to deal with because a handheld scanner simply provides an input device - this means that users would not click on a button to scan, instead they would enter a textinput box and then activate the hand scanner.  The scanner would fill in the text based on the scan.

There is also the Web Barcode scanner control (which is considered obsolete).  The only disadvantage of it is that users must use the app through a browser...which is not so much an issue as that is the only real way to do it on a Windows device.

First of all thanks a lot for the quick answer amd the spot on analysis.

I already was afraid this would be the outcome.

I just had hoped that there was work around, I was actually amazed that it was an issue as power apps is an microsoft product.

@Vandingenen_St  Are you using the native PowerApps app in windows tablet or using the browser ? I think PowerApps native app is no longer supported.
