Can't Submit Form Because Required Column was Deleted

I created a form app that was working well until I deleted a required column. I had a required text input column called Product. I deleted it and replaced it with a lookup column also called Product. Now when I try to submit the form I get an error "Product_x003a_x0020_Style: Field 'Product_x003a_x0020Style' is required. 

I tried duplicating the broken list and relinking it but neither worked. Any ideas? Thanks!

Try updating the datasource and try re-creating the form, maybe

Refreshing the data source didn't work. I rebuilt the list from scratch and connected it to my app and now it's working. It's too bad that deleting a required column will mess up the entire form. Thanks for the help.

Usually you don't have to go through all those steps.  If you change a column in your list, depending on the change, a simple refresh will resolve the issue.

IF you have changed something about the field - like required, datatype, etc.  That is considered more major and a refresh will not help.  The answer at that point is to remove the field from your form and then add it back in.  This will cause the form to re-evaluate the field info.

Sometimes (although rare), the form needs to be refreshed.  This is easily done by cutting the form (ctrl-x) from the screen and then bringing it back - either undo (ctrl-z) or paste (ctrl-v).  This will cause the form to re-evaluate itself totally.

I tried doing all of these steps before but unfortunately it still says that Product_x003a_x0020_Style: Field 'Product_x003a_x0020Style is required. This field doesn't show up in my fields list so I cannot take it out or add it back in.

I found a previous post where the user had also deleted a required column in a list and it also broke his app. He had to fill out a ticket with Microsoft to get the issued resolved. From what I can see this is a bug.

Like I say - "usually"!!  A major change to the underlying datasource will really confuse a form.  And, "usually" depending on the change, there are some steps that might keep you from having to take the dramatic steps that you did.  But, that is not *always* the case.

My intention of the response on the post was to make sure you were aware of the intermediate steps (which apparently you are since you tried) so that you did not come to the conclusion that any time you change anything in a datasource that you have to go through so much - which would be very frustrating!!

Assumably, it wouldn't let you input any new data, but it maintained the old data.
Fortunately, refreshing the data did work for me, but it should've been as quick as exporting the data to excel, then building a "new" list from the exported data.
A bit of a pain to re-code your specific forms, but you can save the ones that worked from the previous list and import them.

I think the lesson to be learned here, is that we shouldn't delete a column without first removing the "necessary data" restriction.
