Change the dropdow value based on option from radio button

Hello everyone,

I need help concerning automatically changing of a value of a dropdown list based on selected option from radio buttons .

Example :

I have a radio button with 2 options :

a) Back to previous group
b) Transfer

When I select Transfer option, the field STATUS (which is a dropdowlist field) should change in "REQUEST TRANSFERED TO LEVEL 2" ...and so on ...

Hello,

The dropdown control has a Default property which will help you solve this issue. This default property allows for if statements. For example:

StatusDropDown Default Property: If(Radio.Selected.Value="Transfer", "REQUEST TRANSFERED TO LEVEL 2" , Parent.Default)

You may also nest If statements for more Radio selections. Simply replace Parent.Default with the next If statement, and so on.

If the items of the Radio control are the same as the DropDown values

It's pretty straight forward to just use the default of the DropDown set to the value of the selected radio option.

(DropDown Default: rdoAnswer.Selected.Value)

Different Text in DropDown and Items are from a Static List or single column table:

If they are not the same, then you can use a Switch function to choose:
Radio Control  (rdoAnswer):

   Items: ["Back to Previous Group", "Transfer"]

DropDown:

  Default:  Switch(rdoAnswer.Selected.Value,
                            "Transfer", "REQUEST TRANSFERED TO LEVEL 2",

                            "Back to Previous Group", "WhateverTheItemIsThatYouHaveForThis")

DropDown Items are from a datasource or table and are different, but there is a common identifier/value:

Let's say you have a table in a variable or a collection of items (I'll use a table in this example)

     Set(myTable, Table({Status:"REQUEST TRANSFERED TO LEVEL 2", Val:1},

                                    {Status:"Another Status Item", Val:2}))

Radio Control (rdoAnswer):

     Items: Table({Ans:"Transfer", Val:1}, {Ans:"Back to Previous Group", Val:2})

         Value: Ans

DropDown Control:

    Items:  myTable

       Value:  Status

    Default: Lookup(myTable, Val=rdoAnswer.Selected.Val).Status

The sytax for SWITCH statement is:

Switch( RadioButton.Selected.Value, "Transfer", "message for Transfer", "BACK TO PREVIOUS GROUP", "message for Previous Group")

So, since your values for the DropDown are coming from a single column table (created from the Choices function), you will have a table of "Value" with each item in it.
I don't know what your values are from the Choice function so you will have to adjust your Text to fit your choices.

I do know that your two choices for the Radio control are "BACK TO PREVIOUS GROUP" and "TRANSFER".

You need to implement the Switch statment in this case to select the one you want.

Switch(Radio4.Selected.Value;

    "TRANSFER"; "whateverTheExactTextValueofTheCorrespondingChoiceIs" ; 

    "BACK TO PREVIOUS GROUP"; "whateverTheExactTextValueofTheCorrespondingChoiceIs")

Hello,

I apologise to bother you again. I tried to do as you described but somwere I do a mistake or I do not put the string corrcectly. Please see the attached screenshot.

(I started to use powerapps a few days a go )

All three Items are the columns from the list . All three are "choice" types.

So , if I go to "BACK TO PREVIOUS GROUP"  >  the second item appears "OPTION" > when I want to select a option the third Item "STATUS" should change automaticly the choices.  

ANSWER column has :                        OPTION column has :                  STATUS column has :

BACK TO PREVIOUS GROUP              -> QUESTION                                  ->  CLOSED

TRANSFER                                          -> SOLVED                                       -> QUESTION     

                                                           -> REFUSED                                     -> TRANFERED TO LEVEL 2

EX:  

             ANSWER                                                  OPTION                                               STATUS

BACK TO PREVIOUS GROUP   >                  REFUSED or SOLVED >                                CLOSED

BACK TO PREVIOUS GROUP   >                        QUESTION >                                       QUESTION

TRANSFER                               >                         #NONE#  >                                 TRANSFERED TO LEVEL2

So...now you've added a new option control.  

Ok - so, I will add again that the EXACT text is important in this case because you are comparing and setting text values.  So, as long as you are basing off of text, make sure your text and case and anything else is exact.

Next, I couldn't determine from your photo what the new Radio control is named, so I will call it Radio5.

The syntax for your Default value of the dropDown control would be:

Switch(Radio4.Selected.Value,
   "TRANSFER", "TRANSFERED TO LEVEL2",  //This is your first condition to check
   "BACK TO PREVIOUS GROUP",  //This is your next condition to check and then we need to check the other options
      If(Radio5.Selected.Value = "REFUSED" || Radio5.Selected.Value = "SOLVED", "OPEN", "QUESTION")  //This is where we check the other options
    )

You might even want to be nice and disable the new option group when the first one is "TRANSFER" (since there is no provision in your logic table to provide a value).

So in the new Option Control, set the DisplayMode property to:

    If(Radio4.Selected.Value="TRANSFER", Disabled, Edit)
