DefaultSelectedItems set based on Created By field = approver (people picker)

Hi, I wonder if could someone help me, please.

I am trying to set the DefaultSelectedItems of a choice field to automate based on the Created By field being = to the people picker field Approver. However, my code below gives me an error. And I can't seem to find the answer on google. 

If(DataCardCreatedBy.Selected.Value = DataCardApprover.Selected.Value,"03 - Approver Approve", "01 - New Request")

Any help would be great.

What is the Items of DataCardApprover and DataCardCreatedBy

I'm not quite sure what you mean by item, but the value fields are as follows

DataCardRequestStatus Request Status is a choice / combo box and this is the field that auto update based on the if statement.

DataCardApprover is a people picker / combo box where the user selected who the approver should be.

LoggedInUser is a input field that is populates with User().Email or I could populate with User().FullName. I made this as I could not get User().FullName to work in the If statement.

I also tried to add the approver to an input field but no matter what version of the if statement I use I either get an error in the code or no error but the Request Stauts field still does not update.

Hope that helps a bit. Maybe it needs something more complicated like adding the Logged in User and Approver into variables fist. I'm only just learned PowerApps a few days ago. Thanks Asta

I needed the Items of the Combo Boxes to see which fields they are displaying as .Value is obviously wrong. I suspect you need.

DataCardApprover.Selected.DisplayName

making progress no error message with 

{Value:If(DataCardApprover.Selected.DisplayName = User().Email,"03 - Approver Approve","01 - New User")}

🙂 and when I create a new form the default value is "01 - New Use" as expected as I have not added an approver yet. 

But when  do add the

the Request Status field does not change to 03 - Approver Approves.

I wonder why it won't update. But you code is error free 🙂
