Hi everyone,
So I have a screen with a form which has a datacard as a control which will reveal other datacards based on a number that is entered into it. This works fine.
I have duplicated the screen and form, the control on the duplicated form works if I manually enter a number, like the original does.
What I really want is for the second screen and form to imitate what goes on the original as it happens.
The datacard that is the control on the second form, I’ve changed the Default to be that of the datacard which is the control of the original. This only half works. The number is copied over to the duplicated form control field but the control isn’t actioned and doesn’t reveal the other datacards.
The quirk is, whilst in “play” mode or running the app, after adding the number in the original control field and then navigating to the duplicated screen, if I simply click my mouse on the controlling datacard, the action is triggered, revealing the other datacards.
What am I missing?
I will say the mechanics work fine on the duplicated screen and form, it’s just getting the control to trigger.
If more info is needed just say 🙂
Thanks
Yes - more! You mention that you have a datacard that has a number entered into it. Datacards are not user input, so what do you have in your datacard and what are the conditions around it.
You mention "Form" so I assume your datacard is a datacard in your form. Is it a field datacard or a custom datacard? You mention Default property (which is not available on a custom card), so I assume it is a field-based datacard.
So, yes, if you can expand on your scenario a bit. Perhaps some formulas and/or screenshots would be helpful to get you to a solution.
My app is connected to an SP List which captures the information in the app.
app.
My control is call PDD (Product Drop Down)
The OnChange property of PDD I’ve put
UpdateContext({PD:Value(PDD.Text)})
Data cards set 1, the Visible is set to PD>0
Data cards set 2, the Visible is set to PD>1
and so on.
The OnVisible of the Screen is:
UpdateContext({PD:0})
Hopefully this gives you enough to help with my issue. Thanks again

Presume this statement above is what you want.

Maybe we misunderstand, but it appears you want the functionality to work in the Power Apps Editor when using the Alt key, but you report it only works using the Play mode in the Power Apps Editor or when running the app for real after it is published.
In this case we would advise that some functionality cannot work exactly in the Power Apps Editor, especially when it is some very niche functionality such as the one you are attempting. First we want to get very specific scope on your question.
Is your goal to get the action triggered and reveal the other datacards and for this to absolutely have to work in the Power Apps Editor inline?
If you are saying it is already working on Power Apps Editor Play Mode or on the real app, then you already have it working then. Is your question specifically about getting it to work when using the Alt inline functionality inside the editor itself and is the question about how to get it to specifically work when using the Alt functionality in the Editor? Or is it about something else?
Thanks for the additional information.
So, this is fairly straight forward to resolve. It really involves no variables (and best not to as this is the source of your issue).
Since you are trying to set a variable on an OnChange, that is not going to happen on the duplicated control.
So, let's pull some stuff apart:
1) You mention that your DropDown control is PDD.
Now you mention that you are using a formula on the OnChange to get the Text property of the PDD control. I do not understand this as there is no Text property on a Dropdown Control.
2) You are setting your PD variable back to 0 on the screen visible. How is this impacting the fact that the DropDown control may have a value in it? Would that not confuse a user that would see "A Product" (for example) in the DropDown but yet your snapshot variable has a 0 in it?
So, with that said, consider ditching the variables! I do not know the Items of your Dropdown (if you'd like to share that formula, that would be helpful), but I would simply "key" off of those values.
So, for example, if your Dropdown had two Products in it - ProductA and ProductB, then set your Visible property on your DataCards as follows:
For DataCards that should appear for ProductA : PDD.Selected.Value="ProductA"
For DataCards that should appear for ProductB : PDD.Selected.Value="ProductB"
No additional variables or Actions needed.
See where that gets you.
