Editing a detail form

When I submit data from powerapp to a sharepoint list, it takes me to the detail screen. But, the item in the detail screen is not the item that was just submitted. Instead it displays the most current item in the list (I have the list sorted by a Order Date column in descending order - most current on top).

What is the syntax for the edit icon on a detail form to tell it to display the item just submitted?

Here is the syntax that is there by default:

EditForm(EditForm1);Navigate(EditScreen1, ScreenTransition.None)

The names are correct as i have not renamed any form or screen.

Look at the Item property of your Display Form.  That will govern what is displayed.  It has nothing to do with the edit icon.

Check the Item property on the Edit form and the Display form...they should be getting the same record.

The default syntax on the Item property is:   BrowseGallery1.Selected

My SP library(datasource) is title "Work Orders". What should I set my Item property on? The Work Orders datasource?  If I do that I still get a err msg.

"... I still get a err msg" - you never mentioned an error message before??

Both of your forms should have the same datasource and the same Item property.

DataSource (from what I am hearing) is 'Work Orders'

Item should be : BrowseGallery1.Selected

It was that by default and i put it back to that. But when a user submits it still displays the first item in the Work Orders SP list, not what the user just submitted.

So the bigger question is this then...when you submit a record, if you return back to the BrowseGallery list, is the original record still selected, or has it changed?

I'm sorry i should have mentioned that i have the form going to the detail screen after a user submits it, not to the gallery, as I do not want users to see all the work orders, just the one they have initially submitted at the time they submitted it. Sorry for the confusion.

That's okay.  That is not my point.  I am asking for troubleshooting reasons.  If you can submit the form and then look at the screen with the Gallery...has the selection changed?  You don't need to change anything for this, just submit and then look at that screen.

Yes the screen changes when I submit the form and look at the screen with the Gallery. I have the gallery currently sorted by "Order Date", descending so that the most current submission shows first. I plan on using the gallery for the Maintenance Department to access/check what orders have been submitted.  Thank you .

Hi Randy,

I think i have found the issue. It has to do with the Detail Form displaying the submission that a user just made. 

On the Detail Form, the edit icon has this formula (EditForm([@frm_EditWorkOrder]), which works like i want it to. It take the user to the EditForm1, but EditForm1 does not have the user's submission. On EditForm1, the Item property has this formula (BrowseGallery1.Selected), but i want it to display the contents that is on the DetailForm1. 

When I try to use DetailForm1 in the Item property i get an error. It only accepts the (BrowseGallery.1Selected) syntax. Is there a formula syntax i can use to get the EditForm to display what i need?
