Empty Rows getting created in return table in GroupBy Function when Dataverse Table used as source

Hi,

I am on 3.24061.21 version of PowerApp. I have a dataverse table. I am doing Groupby on a text type column in that table.

The return table in the Groupby has rows associated with each grouped value but those are empty except the "id" column.

But if I try the same functionality using Sharepoint list as a datasource, then it works perfectly.

Is there any reason why the Dataverse table is returning black rows in Groupby function?

Thanks.

@Kedar_til - could you share the code you're using (paste as text please).

Regarding this comment: "The return table in the Groupby has rows associated with each grouped value but those are empty except the "id" column."

My reading of this comment is that rows are actually being returned, but all columns apart from the "id" column are returning blank/empty. What are the data types for the columns? (Single Line Text, Number, Single-Select Choice etc)

In your formula, could you click into the formula, then click "Table", and then share a screenshot of what of the table preview:

Yes, The Rows are actually being returned are black except "ID" column. The Datatype of the column on which I am doing groupby is "Text". The data type of returning column is "Table".

I was using this groupby at 2 places - 1. I was trying to populate gallary using this returning table. This was appearing blank. 2. I was trying to create collection based on this groupby. There also, within that collection, the table column was appearing but the rows within it were black.

Just to give you updates - In the meanwhile, as part of fixing some other problem, when I turned off "New Analysis Engine" in Upcoming features, this also solved my above problem partially! Now It has started showing data in the gallery. But the collection created based on groupby is still empty!

Looks like the "New Analysis Feature" has some impact on dataverse table groupby function.

Below is screenshot of table within that collection created based on groupby function.

@Kedar_til - again, please could you share the code you're using (paste as text please).

When I asked about the data types for the columns, I meant the data types for the other columns you expect to see. For example are all they Single Line Text, or a mixture of different data types? (Single Line Text, Number, Single-Select Choice, LookUp etc)

Hello,

The code using to create collection -

ClearCollect(ColGroupdata, GroupBy(MfgDefects, bc_defectreason, DefectData))

Column on which GroupBy is done - bc_defectreason is Single line of Text type
The Other columns in table - Mfg Date (Date type), MfgQty (Whole number type), DefectQty (Whole Number type), MaterialNo (Lookup on Material table - Single line Text type column in that table)

Screenshot of collection -

When open the DefectData table within that collection for any row -

@Kedar_til - sorry I am no longer receiving notifications so I am manually going through each post at the moment.

I suspect you have a fundamental misunderstanding of what the GroupBy function does. If you are running the GroupBy function on a single column (in your scenario the "bc_mfgdefectid" column), you would see two columns. The column you grouped by, and the remaining columns available to you in the "DefectData" table.

I do not understand what you mean when you say "it works perfectly in SharePoint", as you would have received the same output.

What are you trying to do? Or what is the output you're trying to achieve?

Already explained the problem above with screenshots. The Defectdata output table returned in GroupBY function has the rows with no data. It has has ID column populated. This is happening when I use the function in Clearcollect using Dataverse table.

When I say it works fine in Sharepoint, it means, if I use the same function on a sharepoint list, then the Defectdata output table has all the data populated.

I can not explain the issue more clearly than this.  I will find some workaround. Thanks for your help.
