Gallery Not Displaying Data on App Run

I have two screens in my app that both do a simple filter on a SharePoint List. Both screens work when I am developing the app. However, when I run the app or publish it, the galleries show up blank. See attached what I see while developing and then what I see when I run the app.

I tend to concur with @NandiniBhagya20 that you really don't need a "login" button to capture what you are.  You are already logged in when you start the app and if you utilize the OnStart action of the app, you can place the Formula there to capture what you need and omit the login button.

 

However, if there is a requirement for the login, then that should work properly.

I tried putting the same code in the app start and I still have the same issue.

 

I realize the login button seems strange, but I am planning to have another login button to use for non 365 users. Basically where a person without an account can "log in" to make a request. Since they don't actually have an email account they will enter the fields manually.

Keep in mind that all users of your app must have a valid license and thus need and account in Office 365 that will be assigned that license.

 

So, in the line of troubleshooting, you first changed the filter to directly filter with an email address and you stated that worked.

So, let's take it to the next level.  Set your formula on the Items property of the Gallery back to:

Filter('PTO Requests', StartsWith(UserEmail, varEmail))

Then make sure your login button OnSelect action Formula contains the following:

Set(varUser, "<putEmailAddressHere>")

See what results that yields.

Okay I made the change and now I have a blank gallery when I run it. It still doesn't make any sense to me that when I test it by playing the app, it always works fine. Then when I save, publish and run it from my list of apps, it breaks.

To be clear though...you DID say that if you put the email directly in the Filter formula of the Items it DOES work once published and played...yes??

Yes, that is correct.

Can we try with Lower function 

Filter(‘PTO Requests’, StartsWith(Lower(UserEmail), Lower(varUserInfo.Email)))

That fixed it! I am quite surprised though because I was under the impression that the StartsWith function was case INsensitive.

StartsWith IS case insensitive!

Well I'm not sure why it wasn't working then, but I used Lower on the variable portion and it fixed the issue. Thank you both for your help!

Summer of Solutions | Week 4 Results | Winners will be posted on July 24th

We are excited to announce the Summer of Solutions Challenge!   This challenge is kicking off on Monday, June 17th and will run for (4) weeks.  The challenge is open to all Power Platform (Power Apps, Power Automate, Copilot Studio & Power Pages) community members. We invite you to participate in a quest to provide solutions in the Forums to as many questions as you can. Answers can be provided in all the communities.    Entry Period: This Challenge will consist of four weekly Entry Periods as follows (each an “Entry Period”)   - 12:00 a.m. PT on June 17, 2024 – 11:59 p.m. PT on June 23, 2024 - 12:00 a.m. PT on June 24, 2024 – 11:59 p.m. PT on June 30, 2024 - 12:00 a.m. PT on July 1, 2024 – 11:59 p.m. PT on July 7, 2024 - 12:00 a.m. PT on July 8, 2024 – 11:59 p.m. PT on July 14, 2024   Entries will be eligible for the Entry Period in which they are received and will not carryover to subsequent weekly entry periods.  You must enter into each weekly Entry Period separately.   How to Enter: We invite you to participate in a quest to provide "Accepted Solutions" to as many questions as you can. Answers can be provided in all the communities.
