Issue with viewing records on detail/edit screen

Hello,

I am having an issue on viewing most of my data on my Detail/Edit screen.

It does write back after I submit it, just not able to see the data after submitted.

Let me know if you need other info to better understand the issue.

EditForm:

DataSource: SQL Table

OnSuccess: Back()   [But doesn't go back to the detail screen - would probably have to add navigate]

Item: BrowseGallery1.Selected

Save Button: Save icon (SubmitForm(EditForm1)

DetailForm:

DataSource: SQL Table

Item: BrowseGallery1.Selected

DataCard:

a01b - Text: Partent.Default (Shows data)

a02b - Text: Parent.Default (doesn't show data) - also tried DataCardValue12.Text (still doesn't show data)

So let's take one record from your datasource. "1893-.50"

When you submit the form, are the changes you make from your Edit form reflected properly in your table?

For example, if you alter a02b in the form and then submit, does the value you entered in the form appear in the a02b column of that record?

Yes, the data does write back to SQL when submit, the only issue is that I can't see all the data on the app for the users to view.

And for clarity...what is the OnSuccess action formula of your Form that you submit?

Okay...then narrowing in on things here.

Clarify if this is true:

When you are in edit mode on the form and you enter a value in a02b, when you submit the form, the value appears correctly in the data table and when you return to the gallery and select the SAME record, the form then shows no, or incorrect value in the a02b field.

Is that correct?

If so, then, again, focusing on the a02b column, add a label to your gallery and set the text property to: ThisItem.a02b

Now, observe the label value.  When you first see it in the Gallery, it should show the current value.  When you click on the item and then edit the record and change the a02b column in the form and then Submit the form, when you return to the gallery, it should NOW show the new value in that label.

Let me know if you see differently.

Yes, it does show me the new value and shows me the value in the detail/edit screen when I navigate to it, but the other records goes away aside from the first 3 bins.

I am not following you when you say "the other records...".  What records?  The forms ONLY deal with one record at a time.

From your photos, my assumption was they are Columns/Fields in your datasource record.

If that is the case, then please repeat the tests with a column/field that is experiencing a problem.

My apologies on the confusion, the records that aren't showing are values in the columns.

This method is working. I there a reason why I had to do it this way or why it wasn't working before hand?

Well, what changed?  Was it the addition of the glbCurrentRecord that changed things and made it work?

If that is the case, the reason it did not work properly before is that you were using the BrowseGallery1.Selected record before.  The Items property of your Gallery is considered a "complex" formula - meaning that it has to re-evaluate.  So for example, your formula uses a Sort in it....what if you edited a record and changed the PartNumber in some way...then the sort would need to be re-evaluated.  

When a Gallery re-evaluates its Items property, it will reset the selected record to the record specified in the Default property of the Gallery.  If there is NO default record in that property, then it will select the first record in the gallery.  AND, once that happens, everything that you have that relies on the BrowseGallery1.Selected will now be "looking" at the wrong record.

The addition of the variable does what a variable does - it takes a snapshot of the value/record at that point in time and will not change unless you set it again.
