Need to disable a button with Not in

I am have a requirement to prevent a form from being submitted if a users name (using CDS) appears in more than 1 people picker field (DataCardValu24 allows for multiple values). My syntax to show the error is:

If(DataCardValue24.Selected.Claims in DataCardValue21.Selected.Claims, "You can not list the same person more than once on this form", Parent.Default)

Upon testing, I found that the above syntax only works if the person in DataCardValue21 is listed last in DataCardValue24. Which means that if the person is listed, but is anywhere other than the last selection in DataCardValue24, the syntax does not work. So I also need to figure out how to check if anyone in DataCardValue24 is also listed in DataCardValue21 (single selection only).

Now I need to disable the submit button by adding this same syntax. I have tried using:

Not(DataCardValue24.Selected.Claims in DataCardValue21.Selected.Claims)

but it enables the button when the name appears twice. I am not sure what I am missing to prevent this form from being submitted.

Thanks in advance

So, to cut to the button...you can put this on the DisplayMode property:

If(DataCardValue21.Selected.Claims in DataCardValue24.SelectedItems.Claims, Disabled, Edit)

@techtudoor

Your issue is that you are looking at the Selected property of the combobox.  This will only be one record...the currently selected on.  What you want is SelectedItems.  That property is a table of all the selected records.

But what I am not understanding from your post is that you are saying "...if a users name..." So, I can understand your looking for a single user name in a SelectedItems of a combobox, but you are comparing Combobox item to another.  Is the first combobox only to have one person, or are you trying to find if any selected person (multiple) in one combobox is found in the selected items of another?

@RandyHayes ,

Sorry for the confusion. I have DataCardValue21 as the first option on the form. This combobox only allows for 1 username to be entered. Then I have DataCardValue24 in the form, which allows for multiple selected users. I need to prevent the user in DataCardValue21 from being entered in DataCardValue24.

So I am looking to determine if a single user from a single selection combobox is in the selecteditems in another another combobox.

@techtudoor

So, to cut to the button...you can put this on the DisplayMode property:

If(DataCardValue21.Selected.Claims in DataCardValue24.SelectedItems.Claims, Disabled, Edit)

So that works great for everything, except the button. I need the button to be enabled if this is not true. I have multiple criteria in the button DisplayMode property. I need this to be along the lines of Not(DataCardValue21.Selected.Claims in DataCardValue24.SelectedItems.Claims). But it does not like the Not Operator.

Currently my DisplayMode property looks like:

If(
    !IsBlank(DataCardValue21.Selected.DisplayName) && !IsBlank(DataCardValue22) && !IsBlank(DataCardValue23) && !IsBlank(DataCardValue24.Selected.DisplayName) && !IsBlank(DataCardValue26)  && CountRows(DataCardValue27.Attachments) < 4 && CountRows(
        Filter(
            MatchAll(
                DataCardValue23.Text,
                "\S*(\s|\n?)"
            ),
            IsBlank(FullMatch))) < 1001 && CountRows(DataCardValue24.SelectedItems) + CountRows(Filter(MatchAll(DataCardValue25.Text, "\S*(\s|\n?)"), !IsBlank(FullMatch))) <= 10.
    Edit,
    Disabled
)

I need to add Not for:

DataCardValue21.Selected.Claims in DataCardValue24.SelectedItems.Claims

I got it to work. I added

If(
    !IsBlank(DataCardValue21.Selected.DisplayName) && !IsBlank(DataCardValue22) && !IsBlank(DataCardValue23) && !IsBlank(DataCardValue24.Selected.DisplayName) && !IsBlank(DataCardValue26)  && CountRows(DataCardValue27.Attachments) < 4 && CountRows(
        Filter(
            MatchAll(
                DataCardValue23.Text,
                "\S*(\s|\n?)"
            ),
            IsBlank(FullMatch))) < 1001 && CountRows(DataCardValue24.SelectedItems) + CountRows(Filter(MatchAll(DataCardValue25.Text, "\S*(\s|\n?)"), !IsBlank(FullMatch))) <= 10  && Not(DataCardValue21.Selected.Claims in DataCardValue24.SelectedItems.Claims),
    Edit,
    Disabled
)

I think your syntax is what the Not operator liked. When I tried it with my old syntax, it kept throwing errors.

Thank you so much @RandyHayes

@techtudoor

Your formula would then be:

If(
    !IsBlank(DataCardValue21.Selected.DisplayName) &&
    !IsBlank(DataCardValue22.Selected.xxxxxxx) &&
    !IsBlank(DataCardValue23.Selected.xxxxxxx) &&
    !IsBlank(DataCardValue24.Selected.DisplayName) &&
    !IsBlank(DataCardValue26.Selected.xxxxxxx) &&
    CountRows(DataCardValue27.Attachments) < 4 &&
    CountRows(
        Filter(
            MatchAll(
                DataCardValue23.Text,
                "\S*(\s|\n?)"
            ),
            IsBlank(FullMatch)
        )
    ) < 1001 &&
    (CountRows(DataCardValue24.SelectedItems) + CountRows(Filter(MatchAll(DataCardValue25.Text, "\S*(\s|\n?)"), !IsBlank(FullMatch))) <= 10) &&
    !(DataCardValue21.Selected.Claims in DataCardValue24.SelectedItems.Claims)
    Edit,
    Disabled
)

You need to fill in the xxxxxxx's in the formula as you were referring only to a control before, you need to specify the property of that control.

@techtudoor

Sounds good.  Still, fix those IsBlank statements on Controls.  They need to be properties of the control or you'll not get what you expect.
