Not able to store multiple selected value of combo box in to sharePoint list

Hello Expert!

I am unable to save multiple selected value of combo box in to sharePoint list, Only first value of combobox is saving in sharepoint list.

I have attached screenshot below Please help:

Your Update property of your DataCard should be:

  yourComboboxControlName.SelectedItems

Check that it is that and not just .Selected.

How is your column defined in your SharePoint list?  Is it defined to allow multiple values?  Is it a choice column?

It is multi line text column

The assumption was that you had a choice column as that is typically what you want to populate from a multi-select combobox.

So, if you have a multiline text column instead, then there are some more questions

- what is your Items property of the combobox?

- what format are you expecting to store the choices of the combobox into text?

My Item Properties:

Distinct('SharePoint List Name','Column Name')
I want to store this in to the same row by comma separated or any format

So, your Update property needs to be:

    Concat(DataCardValue1.SelectedItems, Result & ",")

Your DefaultSelectedItems property of the combobox needs to be:

    Filter(Split(Parent.Default, ","), !IsBlank(Result))

since you are the expert on all things datacards and forms, I am adding my experience to this thread.

Recently, I had a similar problem with a multiple select combo box in an App - which had worked fine for several months now, and suddenly stopped saving and displaying the default values of multiple selections.

After again wasting half a night, trying to figure out WHY, I tried your solution with adding a concat to the update property, (again, it HAD WORKED without that for some time now) and now it was at least saving multiple selections back to the SP list.

One question though: I am fairly certain, that having to use "selectedItems" is rather new? It did function with just xx.selected.columname before.

However, although meticulously following the suggestion with splitting the default in order to get a record from the default value, it was not displaying the values back in the box.

Weirdly, the intellisense (cense?) DID show the correct result - but the box-field not.

I tried various approaches, and in some cases it produced the same strange behaviour of "internally" showing the correct result, but not displaying it in the text-field of the box. Also not showing an error message. Just nothing. Aargh.

So, finally, I resorted again to the simple "Filter(Datasource, ColumnName in Parent.Default) " - and now it works.

Needless to say, the same thing did not before.

I love learning new stuff on the Power Platform, but sometimes it really...

Have you got an idea, why it is behaving so strangely? Is MS trying to get us all to use DataVerse instead of SP Lists?

Any other "out of the ordinary quick fix-tips"? (Mr Warren Beatty mentioned in another thread that sometimes, datacards go rogue, and the only way to fix is delete and redo- which I would have not thought of in years - it would really be great to have a video or so with this kind of "unsettling bugs and how to fix them" 😉
