I have ready every answer and watched numerous videos I'm clearly doing something majorly wrong because I can't get it to work !
So I have the on select of a button to do the following
ForAll(GalleryNewOrders.AllItems,Collect(ColNewOrders,{Title:TxtOrderNumberNew.Text,PONumber:TxtPONumberNew.Text,OrderValue:TxtOrderValueNew.Text,RemainingValue:TxtRemainingValueNew.Text,DateOfOrder:DPDateofOrderNew.SelectedDate}))
I am then trying to patch that collection through to a sharepoint list called POControl
I've tried the following
Patch(POControl,ColNewOrders)
but I get red squigly lines.. ( FYI the column names in the collection match the column names in sharepoint exactly)
I've tried a number of other ways but I can't seem to get it?
What am I doing wrong. What's the easiest way to patch my collection through to the sharepoint ist?

Hi @Anonymous,
As per:
You might want to convert text to values for the currency type columns:
Patch(PDControl,
ForAll(GalleryNewOrders.AllItems,
{Title: TxtOrderNumberNew.Text,
PONumber:TxtPONumberNew.Text,
OrderValue:Value(TxtOrderValueNew.Text),
RemainingValue:Value(TxtRemainingValueNew.Text),
DateOfOrder:DPDateofOrderNew.SelectedDate
}
)
)
@Anonymous
Yes, I had wondered what your column types were when I posted the reply.
So you will want to convert them to numbers. To do that properly and avoid run errors, you will want the following formula:
Patch(PDControl,
ForAll(GalleryNewOrders.AllItems,
{Title: TxtOrderNumberNew.Text,
PONumber: TxtPONumberNew.Text,
OrderValue: IfError(Value(TxtOrderValueNew.Text), 0),
RemainingValue: IfError(Value(TxtRemainingValueNew.Text), 0),
DateOfOrder: DPDateofOrderNew.SelectedDate
}
)
)
This will avoid the app having a general error at run/play time, and will avoid the banner error that comes from it.
Try a ClearCollect(ColNewOrders,Filter(PDControl,id=0)) first, it should set the collection schema to match the SP List and you should have better results.
@Anonymous
Chances are that your column names do not match (as the error might indicate). The names of the columns in your collection must be the "Real" names of the list.
If you have renamed any column of your list, then you need to know that you can NEVER change the names of columns in SharePoint. Although you might go through and do Rename Column on them in the SharePoint interface, it will still always retain the original name (even though it will display it as what you renamed it).
SOME of the function in PowerApps will honor the name change, and some will require the "real/original" name. Those that honor the changed name will also honor the real name.
To determine a column's real name, you can click on the column in the List Settings of your list and then in the address bar of your browser, look at the end of the URL - it will show the real name.
When you do Patch(dataSource, Collection), the names must match exactly and the schema must match exactly.
An alternative is to perform the Patch from the Gallery - just make sure your ForAll is used correctly (you have it backward in your formula). Taking a table of records (the Gallery) and duplicating it into another table (the collection) just to push to a datasource, is just redundant.
The formula would be such as this:
Patch(PDControl,
ForAll(GalleryNewOrders.AllItems,
{Title: TxtOrderNumberNew.Text,
PONumber:TxtPONumberNew.Text,
OrderValue:TxtOrderValueNew.Text,
RemainingValue:TxtRemainingValueNew.Text,
DateOfOrder:DPDateofOrderNew.SelectedDate
}
)
)
I hope this is helpful for you.
Just at the first line of your button. Assuming you don't have a collect or clearcollect with that collection name anywhere else in your app. This will make it so you can use the type ahead etc. when setting the data in your collect etc. as well to help guide what goes into what columns.
Thanks @RandyHayes , I understand that all fields must match the real names, I was doing that already I'm also planning to do other stuff such as calculations with the collection so that's why i did that. However trying your patch each field separately I realise that actually the 2 fields that are causing the issue are both "currency" fields on Sharepoint. (OrderValue and RemainingValue) when I leave them out the formula has no errors So I've tried changing the text boxes in the gallery to number format but that hasn't made a difference. Is there anything else I can do? Do you think this might be the issue?
