PowerApp Edit save error - failed BadGateway

Hi - I m working on creating my first canvas app. The backend is Azure SQL server db. When I try to Add or Edit a row, I'm getting the following error

"An error occurred on the server. Server Response: TABLE NAME failed. BadGateway

Can someone tell me what I'm missing or doing incorrectly.

Depends!!  Can you elaborate more on "When I try to Add or Edit a row"?  What is it you are using to do that?

Hi Randy,

So as mentioned above, I'm building my first app, very basic one that pulls data from Azure SQL server. I completed my first step i.e. pull rows from backend table into the app. Now in the screen when I try to edit/update the values of the row example, change the Project Name or Employee name, and save it(click the tick/check icon) it throws the error "An error occurred on the server. Server Response: TABLE NAME failed. BadGateway

So in PowerApps, everything has actions and properties.  So, mentioning that there is a save icon does not provide much detail as there can be a variety of things on it. 

What is needed in this case is...what is the OnSelect action formula on that icon?

My bad, I'm slowly picking up Powerapps lingo.

The icon's OnSelect property has action formula "SubmitForm(EditForm1)". The EditForm1, in turn has 4 data card values that map to four different columns on the screen.

Good deal!!  Now we are on the start of the journey!  EditForm1 is where the issue is coming in.  So, how did you add the EditForm and what kind of changes did you do to it other than, add the form, connect to datasource and then add the fields?

Randy, Thanks for your prompt responses and trying to help me on the issue.

The database table has Primary Key defined and as a result when I loaded the app pointing to datasource the "EditScreen1" automatically showed up on the Treeview section(left bar) along with Browser and Detail screens. I didn't add or update any changes to EditScreen1 or its elements. 

So far I have been making changes to BrowserScreen and DetailScreen only and once they were completed I went to test how the "IconEdit" and "IconDelete" icons work and running into the error issue.

Okay, so no real changes to the EditForm then it sounds like.

So, then let's take about the fields that are in the form.  What type of fields are they in your data table?

So the biggest issue I see is that you have assigned Project as your primary key and you are allowing the user to edit that key in the form.  This is going to lead to network and gateway errors.

I would advise that you have an integer based primary key set as the Identity (auto-incremental). This will allow your form to operate properly and you will not incur network and gateway errors.  

Note, those errors occur when the SQL server cannot perform an operation and thus returns an error at the gateway level.  It cannot pass that through, so it is consider a gateway error.
