Setting variable to Item that was submitted via a NewForm, not EditForm.

I have an App where the first screen is a Gallery is pulling information from a SharePoint List. 

I have a New button that goes to the Newform for the SP list and an Edit button that set a variable to the Gallery's selected Item Set(selecteditem, Gallery1.selected) and goes to the edit form for this list. 

On the Next screen a form mode  Variable sets the form for that SP list to either NewForm or EditForm based on what they wanted to do from the first screen. 

What I want to happen with the FormMode.New is when they Submit the form, I want the selecteditem to now become the item that was just created, not gallery1.selected. Or, have a way to have Gallery1 to select the current item just added so the variable matched the current item. 

I want to avoid having the User go back to the first gallery and select the item again just to set the variable. 

The reason I want this is I also have galleries that use the selecteditem variable elsewhere and they are not updating the current items because they are set to what ever was last selected from gallery 1, not the New item.

So far so good. I made a few changes. I set the Add New app button to visible, and set its on select to 

SubmitForm(Form2);
NewForm(Form1); //this is the form name for appsdataform
Navigate(AppDataScreen,ScreenTransition.None)

 The issue I am seeing is having the  Item for the AppsDataForm: AppsGallery.Selected
I am getting "No Item to Display" when I hit the Add New App button, which makes sense, because I never selected anything from the Apps Gallery.

My apologies, I had variables on the Appdata screen forcing the edit form.

The key to a New form record is just the use of NewForm on the form.  So, if you were getting no record to display, then it was not in new mode it was in edit.

In other words, there is nothing to select in the Gallery for NewForm.  And in fact, the Form ignores completely the Item property of the Form when a NewForm is done.

So, where are you on this...is everything working now or are you still having some rough edges?

Hi, I found this post while trying to figure out my own problem, which is similar, but I'm still having issues. I've got a canvas app that starts with a gallery list of articles (it's connected to a Sharepoint list of articles as records). I've got everything set up and working for when you edit an existing article, but when I create a new article I'm having issues. 

To deal with other functionality (sending an email, updating fields), I had to set up a global variable, "SelectedArticle". What I want to do is OnSuccess of SubmitForm(Form1) I want to set the global variable to the new record that was just created. I have tried using ThisRecord, but it's not being recognized at all in the formula field. I've tried the above, Set(SelectedArticle, Self.LastSubmit), but I keep getting an error message that I'm providing an incompatible type for my variable. I'm still pretty new to power apps so I've been trying every possible combination of things that could work, but I'm hitting a wall. Any suggestions??

Hi Randy, I know this was an old thread... But, how do you copy the data from the Gallery to yourList, if yourList does not have the same SourceID, For example my Gallery has more Rows of data than yourList. The Gallery has a datafield called myID; and yourList has a datafield called yourID.  How do I "patch"/copy it so that the value from Gallery.myID is also the value in yourList.yourID?  Thanks in advance.
