Hi,
I have a PowerApp where the underlying data is in a SharePoint List.
I have a button in my PowerApp - which runs a Power Automate flow.
The last part of the flow does an 'Update Item' using the Sharepoint connector.
This works and 10 seconds later a blank field is populated with the required data on an already existing row.
I have a Label in my flow which is connected to that field.
Seems easy...but I cannot see how to display that newly created value into that field....
My PowerApp has 2 screens (my label is on screen 2) and if I navigate back to Screen 1 and then back to Screen 2 - the label with the data correctly shows.
But I don't want the user to have to do that.
Either I would like to have a Timer (where onTimerEnd ... say after 20 seconds .. when the data will definitely be there from the PowerAutomate it refreshes)...or I can have a 'reload' icon which the user can manually click.
I just want that new data to show in a field without having the user navigate back to screen 1 and then to screen 2.
The field is inside a Gallery which is connected to a Sharepoint List as mentioned...however, weirdly if I select the Gallery (Gallery 2) and on the Properties on the right of the screen - it shows:
Data Source: Custom.
(Is this because I have a Gallery on screen 1 pointing to the same SP list?)
I have tried: Refresh (Name of SP List) - but this doesn't update the record either.
Also using Monitor - it looks like it is only refreshing Gallery 1 .. which is on screen 1 and also points to the same Sharepoint List).
How do I refresh this 'Custom' datasource...so Gallery 2 is updated.
Or - is there a better way to achieve this? I am seeing posts about using UpdateContext...but I am not sure I am using it correctly.
The fact that I can navigate out of the screen and back must mean I can do something staying on the same screen and refreshing that label?
Thanks for any advice.

Ha. OK - that was an easy find. Thanks.
Looks like I did set it and perhaps this is where my naivety on working with these is where I am going wrong.
So - on screen1 - I have a button which takes me to screen 2 and I want to ensure that I am working/displaying the correct row when on screen 2.
This is what I did to achieve that...perhaps I should not have done this:
This is screen 1:
On the relevant row - they click on 'Detail':
The onSelect looks like this: (Where Detailed in screen2)
That detail button is where I am setting the 'selectedItem' variable and again - to ensure when I hit screen 2 - I am displaying the appropriate row in screen 2 for the one they clicked on.
I did this - as before my rows between screen 1 and screen 2 were not in sync....
So, before we go too far down a rabbit hole, what is the Items property of Gallery1?
By the way... this is what I followed to achieve it:
PowerApps Navigate to another screen - SPGuides
And it works....just that I cannot refresh a field after the power automate flow updates it ... unless I switch back to screen 1 and click on detail to take me to screen 2.
Yes, the reason you see what you see is because you are using a snapshot variable. It never updates until you update it in your app. Thus the, go back to screen 1 and then back to the record.
So, looking at the Items property, this is a simple formula (meaning that some other complexities will not arise), so you really don't need the variable at all.
Now, I'm a little confused why you would have a Gallery that only ever shows one record. Your Gallery1 is the record. Gallery2 does what??
Change the Items property of Gallery2 to : Table(Gallery1.Selected)
Change the OnSelect property of Gallery1 to : Navigate(Detailed, Fade)
I specifically mention the OnSelect formula above to eliminate the selectedItem variable. We will know immediately (by any other errors that pop up) if you are relying on that some place else...which we should then change.
Thanks @RandyHayes ,

The Gallery2 on screen2 shows many more fields....though only 1 record will get an update happening to it.
The other fields are basically other columns from the SP list
Gallery1 is almost like a summary screen - then you drill in and it shows more information from the same SP list on screen2 in Gallery2.
Now - if the above code you have supplied (and thanks!) - gives me the same corresponding record/row - then I guess I am golden.
Then presumably I can go back to what you originally told me about ensuring when the flow completes and then I can refresh.
I'll get testing and confirm.
Yes, it is just a strange use of a Gallery. The Gallery is designed to display a table of records. If you are only displaying one record, then it is kind of extra baggage to your app.
But, yes the formula provided will give you the information for that gallery. And none is based on a variable that you have to refresh.
So, now that we've covered all of that, yes, go back to where we started in this thread and first capture the output of the flow to a variable to make sure the flow runs before you then have a Refresh on your datasource.
That will be: Refresh(CloudTasks)
Thanks @RandyHayes
I certainly didn't intend it to be non-standard.
For this one:
Change the OnSelect property of Gallery1 to : Navigate(Detailed, Fade)
Did you mean on the actual Gallery1 or on my button that takes me to screen 2?
I tried both - but now some strange behaviour.
When I click on the reload button Refresh (CloudTasks).
The screen2 refreshes displaying what is in row 1 of my SharePoint list.
Like it is cached in the app or something.
If I go back to screen 1 and then into screen 2 for the same record - the data displayed is good again.
But as soon as I refresh (cloudtasks) - it refreshes all fields in the Gallery2 but specifically row1 in that is in the SP list.....
I'll keep trying unless I am doing something obviously wrong...
Hi @RandyHayes - OK - I can see what is messing it up now.
With this in Gallery 1
Items:
Search('CloudTasks', SearchBox.Text, "TaskName", "Client")
When I am on screen2 and I hit the reload which is Refresh (CloudTasks) - for some reason (search function related??) - it reloads the fields with row 1 of my SP List.
If I make Gallery1
Items:
'CloudTasks'
So, removing my Search functionality.
Then it works....
Hitting my reload button correctly reloads the screen with my updated row and keeps all other fields intact and stays on the right record.
I really liked the Search though....
