Time Picker using dropdown

Hi. Hope you guys can help me with this problem.

The dropdowns above the textInput field (datacardvalue16) populates the textInput field (datacardvalue16) with a time as shown in the screenshot.

The code for the textInput field (datacardvalue16) in the screenshot works fine when submitting a new entry but the issue I am having is when I am trying to edit a entry that was made. When I select a new time from the dropdown, it does not update the textInput (datacardvalue16) field with the new time. How can I achieve this?

Change your Default Formula on DataCardValue16 to:

FHourDropdown.Selected.Value & ":" & FMinutesDropdown.Selected.Value & " " & FAMPMDropdown.Selected.Value

Set your Default property on the Hour dropdown to : Hour(Parent.Default)

Set your Default property on the Minute dropdown to : Text(Minute(Parent.Default), "00")

Set your Default property on the AM/PM dropdown to : If(Hour(Parent.Default)>11, "PM", "AM")

Set your Update property of the Finish Time_DataCard1 to:

    TimeValue(DataCardValue16.Text)

Thanks for your reply. But that would only work if the dropdown is a field from the data source hence the Parent.Default but they are not. They are just dropdowns I placed in the Finish Time Datacard

It is a field in your datasource according to your original post - because you are trying to write to it!

Did you try the suggestion I provided?  It should give you what you need.

If it does not, please let me know what the discrepancy is.

The FHourDropdown , FMinutesDropdown and FAMPMDropdown does not store any value in the datasource, they just write values to the TextInput (DatacardValue16) which stores the time value in the datasource. So how would I use Parent.Default on the dropodowns. It throw me an error when i tried it.

The Update Property code you wrote works with updating the datasource but the textinput field (Datacardvalue16) is blank when viewing the record. It does not show any time in the textinput

Your Update property of the Datacard implies that you are storing a DateTime Value to your datasource.

Therefore, when you go to edit a record, the dropdowns derive their values from the stored datetime column.

The label displays the concatenation of the three dropdowns into a text that is "formatted" for conversion by the TimeValue function in your Update.

Have you set the Default properties as suggested on the dropdowns?

What are you seeing in the dropdowns?  Is it the correct time as it is stored in the datasource?

The Finish Time_DataCard1 Column type in my datasource is a Single line of text. I use the dropdown to populate the textinput which is what writes to the datasource

Ah...there is the issue.  The assumption was that you had a date/time column in your list.

So, change the prior suggestion to the following:

Change your Default Formula on DataCardValue16 to:

FHourDropdown.Selected.Value & ":" & FMinutesDropdown.Selected.Value & " " & FAMPMDropdown.Selected.Value

Set your Default property on the Hour dropdown to : Hour(TimeValue(Parent.Default))

Set your Default property on the Minute dropdown to : Text(Minute(TimeValue(Parent.Default)), "00")

Set your Default property on the AM/PM dropdown to : If(TimeValue(Hour(Parent.Default))>11, "PM", "AM")

Set your Update property of the Finish Time_DataCard1 to:

Thanks. My bad in not making that clear from the beginning. Your solution does not quite work for me. It updates the datasource but datacard16 does not show the old value before being changes.  Also the code for the FAMPMDropdown gives an error.  Screenshots Attached Below.
