Using patch to write to a sharepoint list

When I select 'Assigned To' and clicked on the check the assigned to is not being written to the SharePoint  list.

@shal2522

I am not following what you mean by "below screen" and "above screen"!

Can you provide a screenshot of what you are seeing as a problem?

Bottom line is, your form should work!  That is what to focus on getting working properly.

Sorry I thought I attached a screenshot:

In the below screen when I select Assigned to against a machine name and click the tick symbol

The assigned name should  appear in the below screen and a record with filled out/updated fields in the form should be updated to the sharepoint list.Instead of unassigned below against each device that was updated,name of the Assigned person should be displayed

@shal2522

No problem...sometimes things get overlooked!

So, what you are describing is all perfectly fine.  It sounds like the assigned to column is not getting updated when you Submit your form.

What is the Update property of the Datacard for Assigned To?  Also, what is the Items property of the Combobox for Assigned To?

The whole form is not being submitted to sharepoint list and the assigned name is not displaying in theother screen

The Assigned to update property: DataCardValue9.Selected

For Items : Office365Users.SearchUser({searchTerm:DataCardValue9.SearchText,top:10})

@shal2522

Yes, well that update property will not work!

Your Items are based on Office 365.  You are trying to update a User/Person column in your list (assuming that Assigned to is a person type column).  Office 365 Users and SharePoint users are two entirely different records!

You have to convert the 365 user to a SharePoint user.

First, change your Items property to use the current SearchUser action, as SearchUser is a deprecated action and is replaced with SearchUserV2.

 Office365Users.SearchUserV2({searchTerm: Self.SearchText, top:10}).value

Then, If Assigned to is in fact a person column, then change your Update property to:

With(DataCardValue9.Selected,
{
   Claims:"i:0#.f|membership|" & Lower(Mail),
   Department:"",
   DisplayName: DisplayName,
   Email: Mail,
   JobTitle: "",
   Picture: ""
}

If you submit a form (or try to patch a record) where the data types are incorrect, then SharePoint will in many cases reject the record and do nothing.  This is most likely what you are seeing.

As per your suggestion ,I added this based on my fields and get this error

With(DataCardValue9.Selected,
{
Claims:"i:0#.f|membership|" & Lower(Mail),
machineType: machineType_DataCard2.seleced,
Model: model_DataCard2.Selected,
Machine Name : machineName_DataCard2.selected,
State Tag: State Tag_DataCard2.selected,
Cell Phone Number : CellPhoneNumber_DataCard1.selected,
Year Purchased : yearPurchased_DataCard2.selected
}

Error:

shal2522_0-1662666209214.png

@shal2522

That is not the formula I provided you for the Update property...it should ONLY be:

With(DataCardValue9.Selected,
{
   Claims:"i:0#.f|membership|" & Lower(Mail),
   Department:"",
   DisplayName: DisplayName,
   Email: Mail,
   JobTitle: "",
   Picture: ""
}

Each datacard in the form represents a field in your datasource record.  Each Datacard has an Update property that determines what is written to your source.

Machine Type, for example, should have its own datacard and update property on it. Based on the erroneous formula you have, the Update property of the Machine Type data card should be:  machineType_DataCard2.Selected

Also, your formula had misspelled items in it (highlighted in red above)

You have to be accurate and exact or it will give you errors.

Following along, your Update property for the other data cards should be as follows:

Model datacard : model_DataCard2.Selected  (assuming that Model is a choice column)

The Machine Name field is text - what is machineName_DataCard2 ???  If it is the name of the TextInput control shown in your picture, then it will only have a Text property to use for this...There is no Selected property.

The same goes for the other fields.

BUT, here is the biggest point on this - when you set up your form on a Datasource ALL of the above is already all done for you.  Is there are reason that it is all changed??  If you create a form from your datasource, then all of the Update properties are all set properly.  The Default properties are set properly.  The controls are set properly...everything is done!  The only thing you would then need to do is assign a record or a mode and SubmitForm.

How has your form gotten so out of whack?  Were you trying to change it for a particular purpose?  If so, then please elaborate on the changes you were trying to make.
