Yes/No toggles not displaying in Live testing

Hello all. When I press play in the studio, my "yes/no" toggles are fine.

In Live, they simply do not display. Image below.

This is an edit form. It is editing a record in a sharepoint list. The fields in question are blank, i.e. there is no value yet, and the edit form is to add these values.

Untitled.png

The above image is just one example but most of the toggles aren't working.

I've tried changing the default values of both the data card and the toggle itself to false. I've tried setting the default value to if(isblank(thisitem.yesnovalue),false,thisitem.yesnovalue) to no avail.

That hasn't worked. I just can't get my head around it.

Any ideas?

I have a feeling it's something to do with the powerapps release?

@WarrenBelz @RandyHayes

Hi gentlemen

Are either of you able to help on this?

@stephybabes

Well...haven't seen this issue particularly.

It certainly would not be related to the Default property or anything else in this case as you indicate that the control just simply does not display in play mode.

According to all your answers to @JR-BejeweledOne the properties seem to all be correct.

So, you have good reason to suspect the current version.  But, you would need to validate that suspicion.

My suggestion is the following:

1) Basic Test 1:

  - Create a New app and connect to your datasource.

  - Put an EditForm in your app.

  - Set the DefaultMode to New.

  - Save the App and then Play the app (no need to publish as it is a new app)

  Result: ??

2) Basic Test 2:

  - Create a New app and connect to your datasource.

  - Put an EditForm in your app.

  - Set the DefaultMode to Edit.

  - Set the Item property to a valid record.  Keep it simple - even a First(yourListName) will be fine.

  - Save the App and then Play the app (no need to publish as it is a new app)

  Result: ??

If all of the above show NO issues with the visibility of the toggle control, then proceed forward...

3) In app test

  - In your current app, create a new screen.  IN the StartScreen of the App, put the name of the new screen

  - On the new screen, insert a form and following either test 1 or 2 above.

  - Save, publish, test...

  Result: ??

Let's at least start with those tests and see what you find out.

Basic Test 1: toggles display fine

Basic Test 2: toggles display fine

In-app Test: toggles display fine on the new screen/form

@stephybabes

So there is an issue with the form that you have currently!

I would first start by cutting the form (ctrl-X) and then pasting it back in (ctrl-V) to get the form to re-initialize itself.

If that is no joy, then it might be a need to recreate the form completely.

I can't - the app is live, people use it. It would take me ages to do another form. There are 3 forms and 2 out of the 3 are not showing toggles 😞 the new form works fine but the edit forms do not. because of the toggles.

So I could go through all of the redesign only to be faced with the exact same problem.

@timl are you Tim Leung? I love your blog. Do you have any ideas about this?

Hi @stephybabes

Yes, I'm Tim Leung and thanks for your kind words 🙂

This is a very strange problem and I'm not sure what else to suggest, as following Randy's suggestions implies some sort of potential corruption in the form or app.

To eliminate some of the other less likely possibilities, I would try opening the same app in a different browser or in incognito/inprivate mode. This would eliminate the possibility that the toggles are being hidden by browser settings, or browser extensions.

I'd also experiment with the zoom settings of the browser and the display settings of the PC. There are cases where the borders of controls or other artefacts can be missing if the display is zoomed in/out at a certain size (although I've never seen entire controls missing).

Finally, I'd consider taking advantage of the assisted support that's available by clicking the 'Create support ticket' button on the following page.

https://powerapps.microsoft.com/en-us/support/

This might be the best course, given that there's a strong possibility that this is being caused by a bug, and that you've already exhausted all the suggestions that have been offered by some of the most talented super users on this forum.

Good luck and let us know how you get on.
